Office of the Controller of Budget Legal Assistant Jobs in Kenya

Job Purpose

  • This position is responsible for implementing legal, governance and advisory policies
    and guidelines for the directorate

    Key Responsibilities/ Duties / Tasks

    Operational Responsibilities / Tasks

  • Retrieves information and documents for legal staff

  • Gathers information and keeps record of legal documents

  • Organizes paper and electronic files, scanning, indexing, coding and labelling tasks

  • Completes research for legal staff, draft correspondence, summarize records and findings and write briefs, petitions and other legal documents

  • Implements work plans and budgets for the department

  • Assists in drafting contracts for the office of the Controller of Budget

  • Assists in drafting gazette notices for publication

  • Assists in drafting memorandum of understanding and agreements with other organizations

  • Maintains and updates law libraries, literature and documentation.

  • Coordinates and schedule appointments and meetings for the Directorate.

  • Prepares legal documents for court proceedings.

    Job Dimensions:

    Responsibility for Physical Assets

  • Responsible for the personal assets assigned by the office of the Controller of Budget as
    per office’s asset register.

    Decision Making / Job Influence

  • Operational

    Job Competencies (Knowledge, Experience and Attributes / Skills)

    Academic qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognized university.

    Previous relevant work experience required

  • Two (2) years of relevant work experience from a reputable organization.

    Functional Skills, Behavioral Competencies /Attributes:

  • Knowledge of national development policies, goals and objectives.

  • Proficiency in computer applications.

  • Knowledge of the budget process.

  • Knowledge of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.

  • Knowledge of the Controller of Budget Act 2016.

  • Knowledge of Public Finance Management Act 2012 and Public Finance Management Regulations, 2015.

  • Knowledge of County Governments Act 2012.

  • Knowledge of Intergovernmental Relations Act, 2012.

  • Communication and Interpersonal skills.

  • Resource management skills.

  • Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
