Oasis Healthcare Pharmacist - Kakamega Jobs in Kenya


The pharmacist; is responsible for providing professional pharmaceutical services and overseeing the day‑to‑day management of the facility pharmacy. The role ensures safe, effective, and rational use of medicines through dispensing, inventory management, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, clinical pharmacy support, and leadership of pharmacy operations to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide professional pharmaceutical services including prescription review, dispensing, patient counseling, and medication therapy management.

  • Oversee daily pharmacy operations to ensure efficient, safe, and uninterrupted service delivery.

  • Plan, procure, receive, store, and manage pharmaceutical products and consumables to maintain optimal stock levels.

  • Ensure compliance with pharmacy laws, professional standards, licensing requirements, and hospital policies.

  • Manage controlled medicines with proper documentation, storage, accountability, and reporting.

  • Supervise, mentor, and coordinate pharmacy personnel to promote high standards of service.

  • Collaborate with clinicians to promote rational prescribing, medication safety, and antimicrobial stewardship.

  • Monitor, investigate, and report medication errors and adverse drug reactions, implementing corrective actions.

  • Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives, SOPs, and risk management measures.

  • Prepare pharmacy reports, monitor KPIs, and provide updates on operations and compliance.

  • Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and resource planning for pharmaceutical services.

  • Ensure proper maintenance and utilization of pharmacy equipment and information systems.

  • Participate in audits, CME, CPD, and multidisciplinary team meetings.

  • Promote excellent customer service and uphold
    organizational values and patient‑centered care.

  • Perform any other duties assigned by management.

    Requirements

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy from a recognized institution.

  • Registered with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board with a valid practicing license.

  • Minimum of 2 years’ post‑registration experience in a hospital pharmacy.

  • Leadership or supervisory experience (advantage).

  • Strong knowledge of pharmacotherapy, pharmaceutical care, and medication safety.

  • Sound understanding of pharmacy operations, inventory management, and regulatory compliance.

  • High integrity, professionalism, accountability, and attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in hospital information systems and computerized pharmacy management systems.
