Nedbank Platform Security Engineer (Linux & Cloud) Jobs in South Africa



Job Purpose

  • Analyse information security tasks within existing policies, standards, processes, and business rules.

  • Work independently to deliver tasks, mentor Administrators and Analyst I, and collaborate with specialists to improve policies and procedures.

  • Ensure stability and uptime for assigned areas, with availability outside normal working hours when required.

    Job Responsibilities
  • Capture timesheets and claims accurately.

  • Propose cost‑effective solutions that meet information security requirements.

  • Participate in vendor negotiations for new technologies.

  • Manage and resolve low, medium, and high incidents; escalate complex cases to Specialists.

  • Facilitate incident and problem management processes.

  • Oversee implementation of security changes and identify risks.

  • Interpret MIS and system logs to correct deviations.

  • Act as first point of resolution for non‑routine incidents.

  • Ensure compliance with information security policies and standards.

  • Document and maintain processes and procedures.

  • Create and maintain information security standards.

  • Monitor the security environment against set standards.

  • Review and contribute to project documentation.

  • Implement specific information security technologies.

  • Provide guidance and supervision to Administrators and Analyst I.

  • Conduct risk and root cause analyses.

  • Identify opportunities to enhance processes, systems, and policies.

  • Share knowledge with team and ensure correct information is provided to stakeholders.

    Essential Qualifications – NQF Level
  • Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate.

  • Advanced Diplomas
    / National First Degrees.

    Preferred Qualification
  • A+, N+, S+ or equivalent.

    Preferred Certifications
  • Relevant Information Security Certification.

    Minimum Experience Level
  • At least 8 years in IT environment.

  • Minimum 5 years in Information Security.

    Technical / Professional Knowledge
  • Administrative procedures and systems.

  • Data analysis.

  • Governance, risk, and controls.

  • Project management principles.

  • Regulatory knowledge.

  • Software and systems knowledge.

  • Cluster‑specific operational knowledge.

  • System Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

  • TCP/IP.

  • Information security terms and definitions.

  • Operating systems.

  • Information security policies and procedures.

  • Vendor management principles.
