The key performance indicators for this role includes: Enterprise Risk Management: take overall responsibility of ensuring the delivery of enterprise risk management across the Wealth Management SA (WM SA) division.
Credit Risk Management: to manage Nedbank credit risk by focusing on proactive portfolio management and participating in credit decisions within the WM SA division in order to achieve Nedbank Group Strategy.
Compliance Risk Management: take overall responsibility of ensuring the delivery of compliance risk management across the WM SA division.
AML/CFT & Sanctions Risk Management: provide support and oversight in ensuring coordination; facilitation and management of the AML/CFT Risk within the WM SA division.
Enterprise Risk Management: Overall responsibility of ensuring the delivery of risk management across WMSA i.e. embedding Nedbank Group Risk Management Frameworks, Risk identification, Risk Control Self Assessments, Internal Loss Reporting, incidents review for material losses, signatory for risk acceptances.
Internal Control and Assurance: managing end-to-end engagements relating to Group Internal Audit, External Audit and agreed upon procedures for regulatory reporting. This entails pre-audit meetings, reviewing and approving engagement letters, addressing preliminary findings or ensuring that the right person do so and ensuring that the audit issues are resolved. A member of governance forums ranging from chairing the WMSA divisional ERCO meetings, attending various management committee in the WMSA division, attending Cluster ERCO, High Risk Clients committee.
Scenario Analysis: Business representative for the Wealth Cluster specific scenario analysis. This entails attending scenario workshops, actively participating in discussions, providing input and challenging some of the scenario assumptions with a view of improving the workshop output for tabling at the Group's Internal Model Committee, including: EDPM - Execution, Delivery and Process Management. EF- External Fraud. IF - Internal Fraud. CPBP - Clients, Products & Business Practices.
MCCP: ensure that the BU specific feedback is sound and will pass the ACRP scrutiny/review and approval. Driving the logging of risks and mitigation thereof across WMSA and put appropriate and/or systems in place to facilitate it. Drive the content of the ERCO committee packs.
Credit Risk Management: Reduce or eliminate financial risk or loss through ongoing refinement, enforcing adherence to regulations and enhancement of the bank's processes and procedures. Represent WMSA at various forums such as the Credit Policy Review meetings, Tier 2 / 3 CRAM meetings, Wealth Alco, Credit Workshops, Cluster Credit Committee, Business Unit Credit Committees, Group Credit Committee or GCC (also to prepare submissions for GCC and attend GCC meetings in person and present WMSA status).
Involvement in the sign-off of Nedbank Private Wealth International Tier 2 / 3 transactions and sign-off of the stockbroking carry facilities. Meet clients with Client Relationship Managers/Structured Lending Bankers/Trades to visit properties for new potential transactions and serve as a sounding board for advice on deals and distressed situations. Define and set standards for credit risk function and share professional expertise in the relevant forums.
Manage and monitor credit and credit risk policy compliance by allocating the mandates in the credit risk environment and managing the RRM measures and the quality of the CMIS in the
regions. Proactively manage the market and industry early warning signals relating to the business, industry, economy or political risk and deciding on action plans at various forums.
Build and maintain collaborative business relationships that ensure effective risk management with various stakeholders. Ensure alignment of process with national and Nedbank policies that meet client expectations by conducting benchmarking exercises to investigate improvement opportunities.
People Management: Lead the credit and risk teams by defining strategy. Ensure dissemination of knowledge pertaining to the bank's processes and procedures to relevant staff members through ongoing coaching, training and awareness sessions and become business partners to WMSA. Ensure link between Nedbank strategy and team operations by aligning own team's work with developed strategy and monitoring implementation.
Ensure timeous decision making and appropriate corrective action for self and team by identifying early warning signals in client behaviour, industry or markets that are indicative of change in risk profile. Optimise team efficiency and manage change and transformation by leading and creating a performance culture within the team.
Optimise efficiency and embed correct values by ensuring direct reports understand and support Nedbank's vision, values and strategy and are measured on delivery against these. Manage performance of reports and hold them accountable for managing the performance of their reports by implementing performance agreements, ensuring a clear vision, agreeing on goals and objectives, providing regular feedback on performance, recognising and rewarding achievement and take appropriate corrective action where required. Identify relevant development needs by assessing own performance and behaviour through formal and informal feedback.
