National Legal Aid Service Principal Finance Officer Jobs in Kenya


Qualifications

  • At least nine (9) years cumulative work experience, three (3) of which should have been at the grade of Senior Finance Officer or in a comparable position.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (Accounting/Finance option), Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Business Management, or equivalent.

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent qualification.

  • Registered with ICPAK, ACCA, or equivalent professional body.

  • Certificate in Management Course.

  • Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor expenditure on projects and programmes.

  • Implement proposals for raising funds.

  • Process commitment of funds and monitor expenditure trends.

  • Control expenditure commitment in NLAS.

  • Assist in costing of programmes.

  • Incorporate departmental inputs into the budget process.

  • Adjust work plans commensurate with resources voted in the budget.

  • Monitor expenditures based on approved budgets.

  • Apply sound principles in accounting for finance, assets, revenue, expenditure, and costs.

  • Analyse Appropriation in Aid (A‑in‑A) reports quarterly.

  • Respond to audit queries raised by internal and external auditors.

  • Coordinate preparation of cash flow projections.

  • Develop supplementary financial regulations and procedures.

  • Maintain inventory of bank accounts and signatories.

  • Review final accounts within legislative timeframes.

  • Prepare quarterly financial management reports.

  • Mobilize and manage Legal Aid Fund resources.
