Medical Teams International Physiotherapist Jobs in UgandaJob Summary Responsible for providing physiotherapy assessment and treatment to patients within the health facility and conducting follow up home visits, with special emphasis on mothers with obstetric fistulas.
Responsible to assess patient physical capacities in order to set up treatment objectives with the patient
Conduct physiotherapy treatment including assessment and delivery of physiotherapy interventions for mothers with obstetric fistulas and general patients
Conduct home visits, especially for mothers with obstetric fistulas, to review progress and support clients in adhering to treatment plan
Build capacity by training health facility staff in the physiotherapy exercises per patient treatment plan to ensure patients are supported in recovery
Participate in the screening of mothers with obstetric fistulas and advise in fistula repair operations
Participate in community sensitization activities related to obstetric fistulas as a member of the Refugee Women Health project team
Maintain proper documentation and submit reports as per schedule
Participate in capacity building activities to continually improve knowledge and delivery of evidence based services
Take care of physiotherapy equipment, managing the stock, cleaning up the equipment, in order to ensure its continuous availability
Ensure that medical practices are conducted with the highest level of integrity and ethics according to professional and MTI Code of Conduct
Other duties as assigned
Education, Licenses, & Certifications
Diploma in Physiotherapy is required; Bachelor’s Degree is preferred
Registration with Allied Health Professionals Council is required
Valid practising license is required
2 years of experience is required KNOWLEDGE,
Skills & Abilities
In-depth knowledge of physiotherapy practices and equipment
Knowledge of obstetric fistula repair operations and recovery activities
Highly skilled in performing physiotherapy services and using physiotherapy equipment
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to lead trainings
A good command of both written and spoken English
Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to professional code of conduct
Ability to treat all patients and staff with respect, without prejudice
Ability to provide high quality, ethical, compassionate care that places the needs of the patient first
Ability to maintain detailed records with high accuracy
Ability to support MTI Calling and adhere to the MTI Code of Conduct
This position requires work at health facilities located in remote areas with very basic living conditions
