    Ways You Can Contribute

  • Provide strategic oversight and implementation guidance to the national alumni leadership teams in Uganda.

  • Plan and implement the leadership onboarding week, which includes supporting agenda development, logistics, and communication with attendees.

  • Guide and support to the national committee to build connections with private, public, and civil society networks.

  • Capture and document insights and learnings to ensure that we are adapting consistently to create sustainable, alumni-led and guided programs and approaches.

  • Build partnerships with local African-based organizations to advance the objectives of the alumni strategy and country programs.

  • Closely work with the team in areas of youth engagement, gender sensitive programming and other areas as the member of the country team.

  • Support implementing partners to strengthen their effort to engage youth and deepen their gender programming in their specific intervention areas.

  • Manage day-to-day communication and needs of partners while implementing strategic activities.

  • Elevate youth voices while at portfolio and intervention levels during design, implementation and monitoring of the country program.

  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure youth are kept at the center of country work (including establishing and supporting youth advisory committees, youth feedback loops, and their participation in decision making).

  • Ensure integration of gender analysis during strategy development, program design, partnership
    development, implementation and monitoring and learning.

  • Work in collaboration with leads and partners in various functional areas including Program, Impact and Measurement, Research and Communications to ensure integration of gender sensitive approaches.

  • Identify needs, co-design solutions and facilitate the implementation of gender training and coaching programs for team and partner staff.

  • Identify, document, and mobilize gender-related insight and learning from the Foundation’s current and future portfolio of work in the Country.

  • Support country team and partners to feature youth at events, either as participants or speakers.


  • Carry out other duties as assigned.

    Who You Are

  • Master’s degree in a related discipline such as International Development, Community Engagement, Education, Social Science, etc.

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience supporting young people, community mobilization, organizing events involving young women and men in Uganda.

  • Solid experience in progressive responsibility in the development and private sector with proven track record of integrating gender equality outcomes in programs and operations.

  • 5-10 Events planning and management experience.

  • Strong coordination skills and understanding of project management.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders, including both internally and externally.

  • Ability to interact across functional, organizational, and cultural lines and capable of working comfortably with all levels of individuals.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint and Excel).

  • Excellent English written and spoken communication skills, proofreading skills with a high attention to detail.

  • Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Ability to make sound judgement decisions.

  • Ability to meet tight timelines and to work in a high-paced work environment.

  • Ability to troubleshoot on the spot and in the moment.

  • Fluency in local language(s) is an asset.

  • Flexible, adaptable, and able to execute a range of job duties and changing priorities.
    Possess excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills with the ability to articulate information to a variety of constituents across cultures.
