  • Marie Stopes Kenya (MSK) has been operational in Kenya for 35 years.
  • It is the largest provider of family planning services and offers life-saving and life-enhancing services to men and women of all ages through a range or sexual and reproductive health service through its own clinic outlets, a network of franchise outlets and the marketing of RH commodities.
  • In addition, MSK has an MCH 24 bed nursing home in Nairobi.

  • MSK’s social franchise network was grown with generous donor support and was successful in creating a network of private sector outlets delivering RH services.
  • Now with the conclusion of 50% of its funding in 2019.
  • The franchise is entering a new phase as it moves towards long term sustainability.
  • This will entail reframing our approach recognizing that the AMUA members must recognize the value to their business of being part of MSK beyond the perks of funding.
  • This will result in the consolidation of a smaller more deeply engaged group of outlets, the graduation of some outlets and disenfranchisement of others so that brand integrity is maintained.
  • This job description reflects the changing approach to the Amua network.
  • The post holder will be judged against the excellent feedback received from the AMUA members of the active support and initiative demonstrated by the Officer on their behalf.

  • The FDO team is part of the Program Department.
  • Each FDO will be reporting to the Senior Franchise Coordinator.

  • As a team they will be responsible for implementing the Social Franchise strategy and in particular developing effective relations with existing and potential Amua outlets.
  • With a clear and revised value proposition, they will negotiate ongoing membership with their portfolio of outlets, providing a service to the franchisees that add value to the work of the Amua outlets.

    Key Responsibilities
    1. A Profitable and Impactful network of up to 40 Amua outlets

  • Excellent Value Proposition wins commitment, engagement and profile of AMUAManage new staff on boarding schedules

  • Identification, assessment and recruitment of potential new Amua members

  • Clear articulation and negotiation of the value proposition to result in strong engagement, trust and buy in of Amua members.

  • Ensuring signing of MOUs, payment of franchise fees and honoured agreements/loyalty fee as prescribed by MOU

  • AMUA facility demonstrate provision of high quality services consistently.

  • Brokering of key elements of the value proposition including but not restricted to NHIF assessment, linkage with NHIF county officials, and NHIF marketing and any other business growth opportunities Brokerage of business support.

  • Oversees that commodity supplies and management, ordering and distributed, training, marketing and promotion activities are implemented according to plan.

  • Ensure that MSK commercial products are available and utilized at the AMUA outlets in accordance to the agreed protocols through commodity supplies and management, ordering and distribution.

  • Quality assurance support and identification of training needs.

  • Active linkage where appropriate between members, GOK and other partners.

  • Linkage with additional resources

  • Support supervision Coordinate Amua Leo events, and other promotional events for maximum impact, with well distribution among the SFs in the region.

  • MSK Strategy and Donor interests
    are aligned and delivered for impact.

  • Plan and implement agreed activities within operational area with clear KPIs, analysing network productivity(LARCs,PAC,Under 20s,Adopters) and supporting improvements in our mutual interest

  • Ensures that the social franchising programme is implemented according to the approved MSK strategy and that the donor contract requirements are met.

  • Take immediate and clear actions against fraud or client risk that will endanger the Amua brand.

  • Together with AMUA members develop new ideas for the benefit of AMUA (fund-raising, efficiency measures, sustainability measures).Cost effective delivery

  • Manage workplans as efficiently as possible keeping cost to a minimum

  • Manage finances related to the work accurately and timely manner - Working advance requests, payment requests, surrenders and other paperwork are accurate, complete and submitted timely.

    2. Strong linkage of AMUA with other MSK/MSI work for added value through engagement and communication

  • Document and communicate AMUA success stories from MSK

  • Where appropriate work with Centres, Outreach and Commercial Sales to deliver mutual value and impact.

  • Follow up on Contact Centre information arising from AMUA

  • Identify support that might exist for AMUA within our teams or those of partners

  • Create attractive and compelling monthly, quarterly and annual reports based on high quality data that can be used for learning and AMUA development

  • Ensure that ORION, documentations(Consents and SRH Cards, MOH 512, and PAC registers are accurately filled and kept up to date.

    3. Representation of AMUA network interests in the region of operation

  • Strong networking across the region to promote the brand and seek opportunities for added value and collaboration.

  • Promote the interests of the membership and MSK to counties.

  • Take up issues of common concern for the Amua members to support an effective policy environment

    Knowledge skills and attitude

    Qualifications

  • A degree or diploma level in Clinical medicine, Nursing, Medicine with demonstrable commercial qualifications.

  • Computer literate and with demonstrable skills in Microsoft Office applications

    Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrable networking, engagement and promotion skills

  • Able to build rapport and trust for an effective business relationship

  • Excellent organizational skills and an ability to plan, take action and report accurately

  • Strong personal integrity and initiative

  • A good team player able to support and encourage others

  • Knowledge of health financing and NHIF processes and business skills. Experience in programming (desirable)
