  • LVCT Health is an established Kenyan NGO that is renowned for its implementation of HIV and
    health programs at scale in Kenya. Through its vision of Healthy Empowered Communities, LVCT Health is a leader in designing and implementation of innovative HIV prevention and treatment approaches, sexual and reproductive sexual and Gender Based Violence programs reaching the most vulnerable populations.

  • The organization works with government and
    other stakeholders at national and county levels.
    The USAID Stawisha Pwani is a 5-year program funded by the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) through the US Agency for International Development (USAID) to increase the use of quality county-led health services in four Coastal counties of Kilifi, Kwale, Mombasa and Taita Taveta.

  • The aim of the program is to strengthen county health systems with a focus on HIV Prevention & Treatment, Family Planning, Reproductive, Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health (FP/ RMNCAH) and Nutrition. The program will support the four county governments toward sustainability in quality and systems of health services. The program objectives are:

  • Increased demand for and access to quality HIV prevention services.

  • Increased demand for and access to quality HIV treatment services.

  • Use of quality FP, Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child & Adolescent Health and Nutrition services(FP/RMNCAH).

  • Strengthened capacity of county health systems, local partners and communities to deliver quality health services.

    Job Purpose

  • The Technical Officer – Gender Based Violence will be responsible for implementing, coordinating
    with counties and training county staff and program staff and programmatic expertise to the
    Gender Based Violence (GBV) program and related work at LVCT Health while ensuring alignment
    to the organization’s strategy and respective projects goals as agreed on with donors.

  • Responsible for implementation, coordinates with counties, trains county staff and program staff and ensures reports are done etc. and to ensure proper planning and coordination of program
    activities to ensure achievement of targets and intended impact.

    Roles & Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development/establishment of GBV program goals, objectives, strategies and results-based planning through research, collection, analysis and reporting.

  • Ensure the efficient implementation of activities and the timely reporting of those activities to the organization and donors.

  • Develop, implement and train on Standard Operating Procedures and guidelines relevant for
    GBV programing at various levels.

  • In liaison with Monitoring & Evaluation and other program teams, develop tools for collecting
    GBV data and facilitate analysis.

  • Lead development of donor deliverables and other reports and ensure that they are
    of high
    quality, timely and are results-oriented.

  • Participate in relevant National and County forums to provide technical assistance for the
    GBV agendas and share LVCT Health experiences and learning.

  • Evaluate GBV program effectiveness and determine corrective action as-needed to improve
    goal achievement.

  • Identify lessons learned and best practices for external application and dissemination.

  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships and collaborations with other
    implementing and technical partners including the Ministry of Health, partners, donors, clients and other stakeholders as required.

  • Represent the organization in public and professional circles, locally and internationally
    through meetings, conferences and presentations relevant to GBV areas of work.

  • Ensure GBV programme compliance with donor and organization rules and regulations.

  • Provide guidance, technical support and build capacities of program staff and partners on GBV matters and advise on technical issues.

  • Contribute to the project and GBV program knowledge management system.

  • Participate in developing policies and guidelines to integrate gender and GBV into HIV/AIDS HIV Prevention & Treatment, FP/ RMNCAH and Nutrition.


  • Degree in Public Health, Social Work, Gender Studies, International Development or related

  • A minimum of 5 years’ working experience in program design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation implementing gender-based violence interventions.

  • Demonstrated experience of GBV response and prevention programming as well as in managing an integrated approach to supporting survivors of GBV, including the clinical, psychosocial, legal and advocacy components.

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with senior-level colleagues,
    particularly interacting productively, proactively, and comfortably with Government
    agencies, NGOs, private sector groups, donors and community stakeholders.

  • Must have a proven track record of building teams and fostering collaboration in order to
    achieve goals, meet milestones and produce high quality deliverables.

  • Track record of strong commitment to sharing knowledge, documenting experiences, supporting creative initiatives and sharing credit.

  • Demonstrated experience in program management and administration and contract compliance.

  • Demonstrated experience in conducting research studies on GBV will be an added advantage.
