Main Purpose of the Job- (Job Summary)
  • The role holder is responsible for all operational aspects of the third-party recoveries undertaken by Kenyan Alliance Insurance through the courts.


  • Treaty and Facultative Recoveries Role
  • Identification and follow up on excess of loss claims recovery from the treaty reinsurers.
  • Making provisional loss notification to reinsurers,
  • Making cash calls for large claims from reinsurers.
  • Facultative reinsurance placement of risks exceeding the treaty capacity.
  • Quarterly reconciliation and summarizing of treaty accounts in liaison with Finance department.
  • Processing of treaty renewal data and sharing it with the reinsurers.
  • Analyzing treaty wordings & cover notes, identify amendments and communicate to users.
  • Reconciliation and calling for payments of facultative accounts and calling for reinsurance treaty recoveries.

    Subrogation Recoveries Role
  • Assessing, Commencing and following up Recoveries against Third Parties to completion.
  • Instituting direct recoveries by way of demand letters and documentation to third party insurers with a view to securing settlements out of the court process.
  • Maintaining a progress report of all third-party recoveries to keep track of their progress from inception to completion.
  • Issuing instructions to advocates to institute third party recoveries on behalf of the company.
  • Drafting and dispatching, receiving and responding to recovery litigation related correspondences.
  • Documenting subrogation recoveries to advocates and third-party insurers to facilitate recovery.
    Ensuring third party recoveries do not fall below the periodic budgets of the company.
  • Attending Court and Testifying in proof of the company’s case(s) in recovery matters.
  • Ensuring service providers are paid in line with the Company’s claims philosophy.

    Salvage Disposal Role
  • Plan and participate in salvage disposal as per company guidelines for recovery minimization of claims ratio.
  • Leadership and Administrative Role
  • Plan and participate in salvage disposal as per company guidelines for recovery minimization of claims ratio.
  • Supervising, mentoring and managing the performance of officer(s) seconded to the section.
  • Other duties management may impose from time to time.
  • Knowledge & Experience
  • The candidate must demonstrate and possess the following skills and qualifications:
  • A University Degree in a business discipline.
  • Insurance qualifications or progress in AIIK an added advantage
  • 4 Year minimum working experience in a corporate setting
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages,
  • Excellent application of customer service skills
  • Thorough understanding of Insurance Principles & processes,
  • Demonstrated Honesty & Integrity
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Capacity for speedy and reasoned decision-making,
