  • An officer at this level will be responsible to the Deputy Director, Information Communication and Technology

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:

  • Maintaining primary and disaster recovery data centres;

  • Ensuring appropriate data security and access controls considering both local and wide area issues;

  • Developing systems to ensure the Institute makes best use of new technologies,

  • Developing training materials, operating and user Manuals;

  • Ensuring implementation of ICT policies and procedures;

  • Carrying out feasibility studies for areas to be computerized;

  • Evaluating systems and adherence to established performance standards;

  • Maintaining custody of computer catalogues, manuals and licensed softwares;

  • Coordinating administration and maintenance of LAN&WAN;

  • Compiling progress reports on the operations of ICT systems;

  • Ensuring compliance with database vendor license agreements;

  • Ensuring backup and disaster recovery systems are maintained;(xiii)Coordinating systems development, implementation and maintenance; and;

  • Ensuring adherence to Information and Communication Technology Standards.

    Requirement for Appointment

    For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:-

  • Served in the grade of Principal Information Communication Technology Officer KICD Job grade 5 for a minimum of three (3) years or an equivalent position in the Public Service;

  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: -Computer Science; Information Science; Information Technology; Business
    Information Technology or any equivalent qualification from recognized institution;

  • Master’s degree in any of the following disciplines: -Computer Science; Information Science; Information Technology; Business Information Technology or any equivalent qualification from recognized institution;

  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE); Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) or any other equivalent qualification from recognized institution;

  • At least three (3) years in supervisory role;

  • Leadership course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;

  • Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;

  • A registered member of a recognized relevant professional body; and

  • Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results

  • Fulfil the requirements of chapter six of the Constitution.
