  • Joy for Children Uganda, a leading child rights focused NGO with main offices in Bukoto Kampala with field offices in Fort Portal, Kabarole District and Lira, seeks to recruit a suitably qualified candidate as Children With Disability And Inclusion Officer

    Qualifications, Experience and Other Skills

  • The successful candidate must be a degree holder in Social sciences, Education, Human Rights, Development studies, humanities and any other related field.

  • Post Graduate training in project planning and management.

  • This position requires an experience of ATLEAST 3 years in a similar role.

  • Additionally, excellent communication skills in written and spoken English, ability to multi-task, good inter-personal skills will be an added advantage.


    The successful applicant will be required to play the following roles;

  • 25 caretakers supported in starting up their own businesses

  • Project Officer arranged all the preparations for a summit for Children with Disabilities through networking and planning.

  • 25 caretakers supported in starting up their own businesses

  • 20 homes visited per week, totalling 1040 home visits per year

  • 4 cash rounds taking place weekly within the communities in the year

  • 4 neighbourhood sensitization per year

  • 20% of children we are visitng should be playing outside once a week with neighbours

  • 10% of the children we are visiting should have a male caretaker involved in practically and physically caring for the child with disabilities

  • 10% of the children we are visiting should have a male caretaker involved in practically and physically caring for the child with disabilities

  • 2 volunteer Children with Disabilities assistants have been trained

  • Activity Concept notes developed for each activity

  • 52 weekly reports submitted to Supervisor and Joy for Children and Communities are allowed to view.

  • 4 quarterly reports submitted to supervisor and Joy for Children and Communities

  • 12 monthly reports created which can be used externally. These should be submitted to Supervisors and Joy for Children and Communities.

  • Share 12 Relational Ministry Stories with Supervisor

  • Maintain an updated data base in place of beneficiaries

  • Create new networks and relationships with organizations

  • Carry out resource mobilisation for the project.

    Skills & Abilities

  • A vocational mindset

  • Ability to mobilize and organize volunteers

  • Ability to effectively implement a 5-year plan, managing the different stages
    of delivery effectively

  • Ability to disciple women in their Christian Faith

  • Able to work collaboratively across the organization.

  • Ability to provide regular written reports

  • Ability to lead and manage groups within the community ensuring that expectations and objectives are met

  • A strong understanding of evaluation and monitoring methods with excellent skills in using data and evidence to drive quality and innovation

  • Excellent facilitation skills

  • Excellent minute writing

  • A self-starter who is able to work independently and work with a wider team

  • Excellent Project Management skills

  • Able to communicate effectively with people in both the community and also professionals

  • Clear, concise and effective communication skills, both written and oral

  • Able to agree to the JFCU basis of faith

  • Ability to know how to use social media

    Knowledge & Experience

  • Experience of working with Children with Disabilities

  • Experienced being involved in new initiatives

  • Excellent knowledge of safeguarding guidelines and procedures

  • Experience in working with budgets and delivering programs to agreed budgets

  • Knowledge of current issues affecting women in Uganda

  • Good Bible knowledge

  • Experience in organizing events

  • Experience in achieving results through volunteers

  • Understanding the NGO sector
