  • The International Peace Support Training Centre (IPSTC) was established to enhance operational capacity for peacekeeping through training, education and research for the benefit of military, police, and civilian staff.

  • The Centre wishes to engage a competent candidate on a short-term contractual basis in the following position:

    Facilities and Operations Manager

    Job Purpose

  • The Facilities & Operations Manager is responsible for overall operations of the Hospitality Departments within the Centre, which includes the Food & Beverage, Accommodation and Grounds.

  • He/She is the line manager to all Facilities’ personnel with responsibilities including managing staff, planning, assigning and delegating work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems as well as machine and equipment maintenance management.

  • He/ She is to ensure that the appearance, organization and cleanliness of all areas within the departments is maintained at the highest level.

  • He/She is to promote the highest quality of service to IPSTC distinguished and ordinary guests, clients and course participants.

    Employment Standards

    Ability to:

  • Effectively work with all hospitality staff to manage daily operations and special events.

  • Conduct inspections to ensure facilities’ conformance to prescribed standards of cleanliness, and compliance with health and safety requirements.

  • Responsible for liaison with current contractors and identification of any requirement in relation to maintenance and subsequent contract provision.

  • Assist in preparing and formulating contracts relating to hospitality.

  • Calculating and comparing costs for required goods and services to achieve maximum value for money.

  • Coordinate maintenance of all machines and equipment.

  • Responsible for maintenance of all documentation control and records.

  • Assist in planning for future development in line with strategic objectives.

  • Oversee scheduling of all employees within the department to ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained.

  • Scheduling and planning of interviews for recruiting and employment of required National and Casual staff.

  • Organizing and implementing training
    and development for hospitality staff.

  • Assist the Centre leadership in assessing and addressing civilian employees’ grievances as well as disciplinary matters.

  • Control costs of products through monitoring stock and ensuring that preparation of all food and beverages are within the established procedures and policies.

  • Oversee all inventories at service areas. Ensure inventory of stock and supplies is well maintained.

  • Communication:

  • Investigate complaints regarding housekeeping service and equipment, food and beverage issues,and take corrective action.

  • Relay information and brief hospitality personnel on policy changes.

  • Receive, investigate and act upon complaints and concerns from the hospitality staff.

  • May be required to perform duties outside of their normal job description where, in the management’s judgment, is necessary in the interest of efficiency, productivity or improved service of the Centre among other duties.

    Knowledge of:

    • Culinary practice and experience in a facility equivalent to IPSTC

    • Thorough knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the F& B industry.

    • Applicable state health and safety code requirements.

    • Methods and practices followed in the maintenance of tools, machinery, and equipment.

    • Safety precautions to be observed in the maintenance and installation of electronic and mechanical equipment.

    Qualifications

  • Under graduate/Diploma in a relevant field

  • Above 10 years work experience in an International Organisation
