International Rescue Committee Community Based Facilitators Jobs in Uganda

Organization Description:

  • The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. Founded in 1933 at the request of Albert Einstein, the IRC offers lifesaving care and life-changing assistance to refugees forced to flee from war or disaster. At work today in over 40 countries and 22 U.S. cities, we restore safety, dignity and hope to millions who are uprooted and struggling to endure.

  • The IRC leads the way from harm to home. The IRC has been working in Uganda since 1998 supporting nationals and refugees and various institutions in the country notably the government, community-based organizations, the civil society and the private sector.

  • The current program portfolio in Uganda includes health, peace building, gender-based violence, economic recovery and agribusiness, and children & youth. IRC has a country office in Kampala, and field offices in Moroto, Kiryandongo, Kyaka II, Yumbe and Imvepi

    Job Overview:

  • The IRC is seeking for 3 Community Based facilitators for the forthcoming 5 year REBUILD Project. With IKEA Foundation funding, IRC plans to develop a model to leverage our established network of Community-Based Trainers (CBFs) to connect entrepreneur VSLA members to formal financial services and Private Service Actors. Currently, CBFs activities are supported by IRC funding only during project implementation, creating a transitory position that is not able to ensure long term fidelity to best practices.

  • Part of the strategy is to ensure that CBTs are formalized and connected local financial services providers and Private Service Providers. CBFs will be better equipped to ensure VSLAs are sustainable, replicable, and that members continue to have access to expanded service offerings beyond IRC programming.

  • Ultimately, our aim is to discover if increased capacity, purview, and analysis of the CBT role can help entrepreneurs develop advanced financial literacy skills and access formalized financing to grow their businesses.

    Scope of Work:
