General functions

  • Under the overall supervision of the Programme Coordinator for Migration Management and the direct supervision of the Programme Manager - Migrant Protection, the incumbent will support the Migration Management Unit in implementing MRC initiatives. He/she will:

    Core Functions / Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, coordination, implementation and monitoring of migrant protection and assistance projects in close collaboration with M&E teams..

  • Compile, summarize, analyse, and present all MRC weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly reports.

  • Monitor budget implementation and propose adjustments as necessary.

  • Act as focal point for administrative coordination of project implementation, involving extensive liaison with diverse organizational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, follow-up on administrative actions, etc.

  • Draft status reports; compile and share good practices, opportunities, identify shortfalls in delivery, needs and challenges to the attention of MMU programme coordinator and suggest corrective measures to inform future interventions.,

  • Draft correspondence on project issues; prepare and update reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, and other forms of documentation.

  • Organize meetings, workshops and training sessions for counterparts/partners at the Federal and Regional state level and participate in delivering capacity building activities.

  • Respond to complex information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records.

  • Participate in meetings and conferences; maintain effective liaison and coordination with local authorities, partners, United Nation agencies, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, donors and other stakeholders relevant to the project.

  • Monitor work of implementing partners, develop and maintain stakeholder database for all MRC service providers and referral actors and report any non-compliance to the supervisor.

  • Provide inputs for the development of Standard Operations Procedures (SOP) and concept papers and provide general support for the development of new projects.

  • Provides guidance/training and assist in coordinating and monitoring work of other staff in the unit; may supervise other staff as assigned.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Job Requirements

    Required Qualifications and Experience


  • Masters or Bachelor degree in development studies, sociology, social work, law or other social sciences from an accredited academic institution.


  • Six years of relevant professional work experience providing direct assistance or services to populations such as migrants, refugees, beneficiaries of social safety programmes.

  • Proven ability to establish and maintain strong working relations with relevant Government and Civil Society/Community-based Organizations, Non-Governmental counterparts and international organizations.

  • Experience with project management approaches.

  • Familiarity with project monitoring and reporting.

  • Strong analytical skills (qualitative and quantitative) are an asset.

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, with proven experience in Word, Excel and Power point.


  • Fluency in English and Amharic (oral and written).

  • Working knowledge of other Ethiopian local languages is an advantage
