Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leading


UN agency in the field of migration, works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners.


IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.


Responsibilities:


  • Coordinate and support the emergency health response including implementation of activities and staff supervision. This may also include national and field level coordination of activities such as mass immunization campaigns, diseases outbreak responses, primary health care and reproductive health services, HIV and TB programming, facilitation of health referrals.
  • Participate in development of IOM emergency preparedness and response planning and guideline development. Responsible to update the Juba based Tonping contingency plan and stock.
  • Lead and participate in Rapid needs assessment and response based on Cluster identified priorities across South Sudan. Review IRNA/MIRA tools as appropriate.
  • Lead and participate in post RRT intervention evaluation.
  • Develop/review capacity building check list and tools on use by RRT team.
  • Contribute to the evaluation of the overall health projects, including monitoring of progress against targets.
  • Technical support to medical logistics and supply chain management for the health team including medical commodities, health promotion materials and logistical supplies.
  • Ensure quality of supplies, consumption monitoring, forecasting and proper stock management of RRT related supplies.
  • Participate in proposal writing for new projects and report writing for the existing/closed project as requested.
  • Participate in the recruitment, coaching, supervision and appraisal of staff as relevant. Work towards developing staffs to take broader responsibility and grow in their career.
  • Ensure RRT field teams follow proper IOM financial, procurement and HR procedures while in deployment. Report any misconduct and recommend corrective actions.
  • Help to facilitate respectful work environment for staff by adhering to IOM Ethics and code of conduct and leading by example.
  • Participate in health and other cluster related meetings. Key counterparts will include the Ministry of Health, WHO, UNICEF, UNFPA and NGO health actors.
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned.


    Required Qualifications and Experience:


    Education

  • University degree in Medicine, Nursing from an accredited academic institution with at least seven years of professional experience; or
  • University degree in Medicine, Nursing from an accredited academic institution plus Master’s Degree in related fields from an accredited academic institution with five years of relevant professional experience.

    Experience

  • Experience in implementing health services for migrants, refugee and displaced persons and other vulnerable groups; including early recovery or post crisis emergency health programming;
  • Experience in coordinating and liaising with government authorities, knowledge and structures and functions of primary health care system, of national, UN and international health agencies and donors;
  • Knowledge of the region is an advantage.

    Languages

  • Fluency in English is required. Working knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.

    Other:

    Internationally recruited professional staff are required to be mobile.
