Background Information

  • The internship focuses on supporting Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) activities in the IOM mission in Paraguay. The IOM mission in Paraguay has a diverse project portfolio with several thematic areas.

    Supervision

  • Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and direct supervision of the Project Development Officer, the successful candidate will support the mission activities with the objective of informing, reporting and improving the mission portfolio. It also aims at reinforcing the M&E knowledge of key staff in the mission. .

    Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Support the M&E activities of the mission portfolio, including M&E plans.

  • Draft information sheets on M&E related efforts and guidance notes to supplement technical support on M&E.

  • Draft short reports and infographics related to evaluation efforts and outcomes of evaluations to encourage learning and utilization of evaluations

  • Develop summaries and reports on M&E initiatives.

  • Assist in the data collection for M&E and project development.

  • Support project development activities.

  • Assist in the participation of thematic inter-agency United Nations groups.

  • Support the organization of M&E trainings
    and capacity building initiatives.

  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

    Required Qualifications and Experience:

    Education

    • University degree in Evaluation, Economics, Business Administration, Development Studies, International Affairs or a related field from an accredited academic institution.

    Experience

    • Knowledge of, or previous exposure to work in this region will be an asset;

    • Report and/or grant writing of high quality;

    • Project management, reporting, monitoring and evaluation.

    Skills

    • Understanding and knowledge in the creation of knowledge management products;

    • Knowledge of Monitoring and Evaluation, Results Based Management (RBM) and Theory of Change;

    • Computer literacy, especially database tools and strong Excel knowledge;

    • Strong organizational skills;

    • Ability to timely understand the Organization’s structure and portfolios;

    • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously in a team of colleagues of varied cultural and professional backgrounds;

    • Proven ability to produce quality work accurately and concisely according to set deadlines;

    • Practical experience of how to multi-task, prioritize and work independently.
