The Position: The World Agroforestry (ICRAF) seeks to recruit Administrative Associate I at Addis Ababa office.

General:

The World Agroforestry (also known as the International Centre for Research in Agroforestry-ICRAF) is an independent research institution which generates science-based knowledge about the complex role trees play in agricultural landscapes and rural livelihoods.

As part of the the World Agroforestry (ICRAF) work to bring tree-based solutions to bear on poverty and environmental problems, researchers – working in close collaboration with partners – are developing new technologies, tools and policy recommendations for increased food security and ecosystem health.

The World Agroforestry (ICRAF) headquarters are located in Nairobi, Kenya, and research is conducted in more than 30 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

Job Purpose:

To provide financial and administrative support to ICRAF team and handle/assist in recurring daily finance and administrative activities of ICRAF.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handles advance payment to staff including ensuring staff advances are liquidated on time
  • Handles in preparation of cash payment vouchers and follow-up approval with appropriate staff
  • Handles preparation of cash receipts for all advance liquidation
  • Assist in travel and logistics for staff, visitors from ICRAF HQ as well as stakeholders
  • Assist in workshop organization including M&I payment for participants
  • Assists in preparation of technical and financial reports and submissions
  • Liaises closely with all available ILRI staff and services to obtain the services need by ICRAF
  • Assists in communications with partners on project implementation
  • Sets up and maintains computer and hard copy filing system for correspondence, technical and financial
    information
  • Provides administrative/accounting support to research staff of ICRAF
  • Arranges visas and other travel documents
  • Other duties as necessary

    Minimum Requirements:

    Education:

  • Diploma in accounting/Management

    Skills:

  • Good understanding and experience in general financial and accounting matters;
  • Efficiency in computer programs (MS office)
  • Good verbal and written English and Amharic
  • Ability to interact positively and maintain good relations with projects and staff as well as national collaborators.

    Experience:

  • A minimum of two years of related work experience in accounting and office management.

    Duty Station: Addis Ababa

    Job Grade]: HG 10

    Monthly Base Salary: Birr 9,610 (Negotiable depending on salary history of the candidate)

    Terms of appointment:

    This is a Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) position, initial appointment is for two year with the possibility of renewal, contingent upon individual performance and the availability of funding.

    The ILRI/ICRAF remuneration package for nationally recruited staff in Ethiopia includes very competitive salary and benefits such as life and medical insurance, offshore pension plan, etc.

    The ILRI campus is set in a secure, attractive campus in Addis Ababa. Dining and sports facilities are located on site.
