Post Doctoral Fellowship: icipe seeks to recruit a young and highly motivated Post Doctoral Fellow (PDF) to work in the Human Health Division on a 2 year project on vector competence and nutritional ecology of malaria vectors.

The project aims at identifying biotic and abiotic factors that influence vector competence in malaria transmission.

Candidates should have research experience and should on the basis of the quality of their recent research outputs be able to present a clear indication that they will become established as independent researchers within the shortest possible time.

The position is based at the icipe Thomas Odhiambo Campus in Mbita on the shores of Lake Victoria in western Kenya.

Requirements:

  • Possession of a PhD degree in molecular biology or medical entomology obtained from a recognized University within the last two years.
  • Experience in experimental infection of mosquitoes.
  • Experience with Plasmodium parasite cultures or microbiology is an added advantage.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and to reason independently.
  • Ability to learn new techniques and mentor students.
  • Ability to interact effectively with communities during field work.
  • A track record of publications and report writing.
  • Have leadership skills
