  • IBTCI is currently recruiting a full-time Systems and Database Administrator based in Accra, Ghana. As the Systems and Database Administrator, this position will also be responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of the project’s knowledge management and information system databases.

  • The position will provide technical expertise in the design, implementation, and maintenance of database management systems that support project activities and deliverables. Additional responsibilities include reporting, data input and output, technology management, and end-user (USAID and implementing partner) training and support. This position will be responsible for providing technical assistance and support related to Sharepoint or Google, hardware, and software.

  • The Systems and Database Administrator will be responsible for answering queries and addressing system and user issues in a timely and professional manner. This position will support system and computer users across the project. Understanding and proactively maintaining daily system performance, troubleshooting problems, and follow-up and follow-through skills are all essential aspects of the IT support’s day-to-day role. This position is contingent upon award.

    Essential Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and manage a functional web-based knowledge management system, which must be handed over to USAID at the end of the contract period. Provide leadership in data management responsibilities, including serving as the field-based point of contact with Resonance’s database management subcontractor.

  • Maintain knowledge management database architecture.

  • Perform database backups and restorations, and recover corrupted databases.

  • Develop, manage and test database and information system backup and recovery plans.

  • Develop standards and policies for data entry, and ensure compliance.

  • Prepare and distribute reports as requested.

  • Assist with onboarding of new users and monitor and respond quickly to incoming requests related to IT issues.

  • Configure, upgrade, and maintain computer hardware, including servers, printers, and user PCs and related equipment.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve server and network outages.

  • Keep an
    inventory of all equipment, software, and license users.

  • Implement and maintain database security and encryption.

  • Ensure daily optimization and system health check on servers, databases, and information systems for the purpose of ensuring efficient program operations.

  • Attend seminars, conferences, in-service training, and staff meetings as required.

  • Provide training to USAID and implementing partners on use of the web-based knowledge management information system.

  • Other related duties, as assigned.


    Minimum Requirements:

  • Work authorization in Ghana is required and must have already been obtained.

  • At least five years of related work experience.

  • Sharepoint, Network+, SQL, Java, C++, Python.

  • Oral proficiency in English required

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related degree is required.

    Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge in database administration, management, data imports and exports, and developing reports.

  • Proficiency in Java, C++, Python, Microsoft Windows, and Microsoft Office applications with an emphasis on database and spreadsheet applications.

  • Technical knowledge of Sharepoint or Google platforms, PC repair, and network management.

  • Ability to deploy, configure, and support operating systems on desktop and mobile devices.

  • Understanding and appreciation for information security within systems and user devices.

  • Able to extract, clean, process, and standardize data from third-party data sources for storage in a relational database and publication.

  • Strong drive to provide excellent customer service and experience, with an awareness of prioritization of tasks, stakeholders, budget, and time.

  • Ability to perform a variety of professional tasks including, but not limited to, serving on various technology committees or working groups.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with a demonstrated ability to make difficult concepts easy to understand. Experience performing training and capacity building for USAID and implementing partners in use of online databases and systems desired.
