HI Logistics Platform Project Manager - Ethiopia Jobs

  • General mission: He/she is in charge of implementing the project under his responsibility. He/she ensures optimal quality and impact of the projects implemented in the country by means of a delegation system with appropriate control mechanisms.

  • With all HI managers, he/she shares responsibility for the sound management and effective functioning of the global organization.


  • Responsibility 1: Management

    Line-manages the project’s team members

  • Sets individual objectives, evaluates individual performance, contributes towards the professional & career development of his/her team members, monitors competences

    Manages the recruitment and selection of new team members/open positions

    Ensures strict application and respect of the programme’s Internal Regulations by the project team.

    Responsibility 2: Expertise


    Provide technical expertise for the shared logistics platform in terms of transport and storage

  • Ensures that activities are implemented in accordance with global technical standards and norms

  • Adapts project documentation as needed in accordance with global technical standards and norms

  • Conducts technical training for staff and transporters

  • Is responsible for the technical quality and relevance of the project activities implemented within his/her scope of expertise

  • Ensures technical learning from projects based on lessons learned and best practices

  • Ensures that teams get the necessary information and collaborates with the Global Logistics Atlas Specialist

  • Adjusts activities based on audit recommendations

    Manages the relationship with authorities and partners or other stakeholders

    Responsibility 3: Implementation and monitoring

    Ensures project implementation, in collaboration with appropriate departments and in accordance with procedures, global standards and donor standards

  • Plans activities and develops the action plan

  • Implements activities according to project proposals and within the allocated budget

  • Initiates expenditures and monitors specific lines of business

  • Ensures that all activities are implemented according to internal quality and technical standards and donor standards and proposes adjustments or improvements if necessary to achieve objectives

  • Prepares and monitors partnership agreements with implementing partners and other potential partners

  • Ensures the proper implementation and monitoring of institutional policies (PSEA, mandatory cross-cutting approaches, etc.) within the project

  • Leads coordination and collaboration with relevant internal departments, particularly logistics, HR, finance, and technical resources
    h. Maintains contact with the donor as deemed necessary by the Operation manager in Tigray.
    Ensures project data management

  • Ensures that appropriate data collection and management tools are in place for the project in accordance with global standards

  • Ensures that project data related project is collected and compiled in the project databases

  • Regularly verifies and corrects activity databases

    Ensures project reporting

  • Monitors the achievements and indicators according to the logical framework

  • Is in charge of filling in the appropriate reporting tools: monthly status report, PM Box...

  • Provides regular reporting to the line manager

  • Writes reports for funding agencies, and follows up on donor deadlines (grants, reporting, audits) in relation to the project

  • Ensures proper archiving of information

    Prepares and steers project evaluation and capitalization

  • Plans and monitors project evaluations

  • Capitalizes on his/her project in a global learning process

    Responsibility 4: Influence & Communication

  • Contributes to the external
    influence of HI by participating in networks (national global coordination, different clusters...)

  • Communicates on the project with partners, authorities and stakeholders

    Responsibility 5: Strategy & business development

  • Contributes to the operational strategy (StratOp)

  • Contributes to the drafting of new project proposals for the continuation or extension of the project, makes proposals on the project's financing strategy and participates in negotiations with donors if deemed necessary by the Operation manager in Tigray.

  • Contributes to the drafting of new proposals for new opportunities

    Profile Sought:


  • Higher degree in transport logistics or any other relevant field (minimum Bac +2)

    Experience :

  • Experience in project management and high security constraints is mandatory

  • At least 2 years’ experience in team management

    Skills :

  • Ability to work under pressure and in a volatile security environment

  • Knowledge of the project cycle

  • Sense of priority and responsibility

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Reactivity and flexibility

  • Multi-cultural teamwork

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Fluency in English is essential and fluency in French is highly desirable

    •Medical coverage with 50% of employee contribution

    •Repatriation insurance paid by HI

    • Salary from 2350€ gross/month upon experience

    • Perdiem : 472,90 € net/month - paid in the field

    • Hardship allowance: 500€/ month

    • Paid leaves : 25 days per year

    • R&R : according to the level of the mission: 5 days every 6 weeks

    • A child allowance of 100€ per month, per child (from the second child) paid in the field
