HCS Affiliates Group Sectional IP Network Engineer Jobs in Kenya; The Sectional IP Network Engineer – Field will be responsible for achieving MSAN network availability and customer uptime KPIs through on‑site power‑related maintenance for assigned MSAN nodes.
The role ensures service quality and continuity within budgeted costs, while also handling feasibility, implementation, billing‑related disconnection and reconnection of ISDN & PSTN circuits at the MSAN level.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain consistent MSAN availability through proactive maintenance of node power supply.
Manage assigned MSAN & Switch power‑related faults and resolve within SLA.
Provide key updates during restoration to keep customers informed.
Carry out feasibility, implementation, and disconnection/reconnection of ISDN and PSTN circuits.
Prepare customer setup documentation.
Maintain safe work environment by following HSE, engineering standards, procedures, and legal regulations.
Track individual performance and suggest improvement initiatives.
Monitor and align network costs with Finance.
Perform any other duty assigned by line manager.
Principal Outputs
Work within allocated monthly fuel limit.
Provide Street MSAN power meter readings to Finance by 20th of every month.
Achieve 99.65% average MSAN availability for Nairobi MSANs annually.
Ensure 90% of Nairobi MSANs meet power targets.
Reconnect 80% of disconnected lines within 2 hours after bill payment.
Complete 80% of provision & cessation cases within 24 hours.
Resolve 80% of faults within 4 hours.
Conduct quarterly routine
maintenance on MSAN nodes and provide power autonomy status with recommendations.
Complete assigned feasibility tickets within 24 hours.
Qualifications – Academic & Professional
Relevant Bachelor’s Degree or Higher Diploma in Telecommunication, Technology, or Engineering.
Proficiency in MS Office tools.
Valid Kenyan driving license.
Experience
3–5 years working in the Telkom industry.
Minimum 1–2 years of relevant technical experience within a large national network.
Strong organizational skills and ability to plan/prioritize work.
Calmness under pressure and ability to work in a team.
Self‑motivated with continual improvement mindset.
Competencies & Skills
Technical Competencies
Hands‑on proficiency in installation and maintenance of power equipment.
Knowledge of SIP and experience with SIP providers.
Routing and switching experience with proficiency in configuring multivendor routers and switches.
Cisco qualifications or other IP Network certifications.
