Job Description The Finance Intern will offer financial and accounting support to GRIC. She/he will exercise prudence, objectivity, integrity, amongst other principles, in applying the established procedures correctly and in a timely manner.
Grassroots nest Innovations for Change (GRIC) is an organization that aims at building the capacity of Community Based Organizations (CBOs), parents and youth-led groups that work within their communities, to build innovative, sustainable and scalable solutions that increase opportunities for quality education for all children and youth in East Africa.
To work in the financial and accounting unit, GRIC seeks to recruit a finance intern to provide the required support. GRIC will provide a learning platform to the graduate candidate to gain the requisite experience that will prepare the intern for the job market. The internship will be for a period of 1 year
Preparation of payment vouchers-ensuring that all the necessary supportingdocuments are duly attached and properly coded
Accurate and timely recording of transactions into GRIC’s Xero accountingsystem
Maintaining and updating the fixed asset register, ensuring that all the fixed assetsand equipment are properly tagged and identifiable
Receipting of all incoming funds, including surrendered cash by GRIC staff and consultants.
Ensure proper filing of both the physical and electronic financialdocuments
Checking and verification of the petty cash fund expenditure and
Checking and verification of the implementing partners financial
Conduct monitoring visits
to the project sites where our partners are implementing the project.
Provide administrative support during audit and budgetary preparation
Contributes to unit goals by accomplishing related duties as required
A university degree in any discipline from a recognized university
Graduated from the university after2018
Part one professional qualifications in any one of the following: CPA/ACCA/CIMA
Strong interpersonal and communication
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office products – Word, Excel and Outlook and accounting software preferably
Excellent oral and written communication skills in the English
Ability to work under pressure and meet strict
Ability to work in and contribute to the team goals
