The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is a Swiss-based foundation launched at the UN in 2002 to tackle the human suffering caused by malnutrition. Working with both governments and businesses, we aim to transform food systems so that they deliver more nutritious food for all people. In particular, we aim to make healthier food choices more desirable, more available, and more affordable. GAIN’s mission is to advance nutrition outcomes by improving consumption of nutritious and safe food for all people, especially the most vulnerable to malnutrition.

The Project Manager is responsible for the effective implementation of the project and will lead the project team in generating demand for dairy products to be consumed by the target groups, developing affordable, safe, and nutritious prototypes of dairy or dairy-based products, developing a viable business model as well as a marketing and demand creation strategy. The Project Manager will also lead efforts to strengthen the enabling environment for value addition towards dairy accessing and consumption in Ethiopia.

Specific Responsibilities include;
Accountability for the overall effective management of the project activities with emphasis on access and demand

Working with the Senior Program Manager, Knowledge and Leadership Team and other internal stakeholders to successfully implement all components of the project
Collaborating with country and global teams to facilitate stakeholder alignment and develop key partnerships between public / Government and private sectors
Engaging with key Government departments, including the standard and regulatory body, to revise, develop, and harmonize policies, directives, standards, regulations, and guidelines
Collaborating with other, relevant GAIN departments for contracts, purchase orders and project financial accounts
Supporting the project team, including GAIN staff and external service providers and suppliers
Providing the required technical support to selected dairy processors and distributers to make safe and quality dairy products accessible to target community

In addition to the above, applicants should be educated to Master’s level in Dairy / Nutrition / Food Science or Technology, or another relevant field.
Additional qualifications in project management or development-related study would be advantageous. Applicants should have a good command of the Amharic language and be both willing and able to travel frequently.
