Job Introduction:

G4S Secure Solutions (SA), a leading global integrated security solutions company has a permanent vacancy for the Head of Risk Solutions for our Offices in Centurion.

Reporting to the Regional Director, the main responsibility of the Head of Risk Solutions is the management and development of Security & Risk Management services to customers, in compliance with industry standards, legislation, company policies, processes and procedures, to ensure the achievement of budgeted financial targets and business unit/product line growth.

The successful incumbent is a self-starter with a proven track record in maintaining company policy, adopting best practices, and is able to exercise sound judgment in the pursuit of the achievement of the goals of the organisation, and understanding the role in which Security & Risk Management plays within a successful business unit.

The incumbent will be expected to be results driven and to live the values of the organisation.

Role Responsibility:

  • Conceptualize, create and provide a Security & Risk management product offering within the CPO, provision of information services and consulting businesses.
  • Create a holistic Security & Risk management offering to facilitate a new business unit that is commercially profitable and operationally effective.
  • Incorporate existing overhead structures into the new offering to create additional revenue streams and ensure better profitability.
  • In conjunction with the Risk Director, formulate sector strategy and targets, building a robust business plan
  • Implement strategy and structures within specified time lines and deliverables
  • Effective management of the business unit financial performance.
  • Effective management of the financial performance of the business unit, focusing on sound cost control, margin protection and improvement, and overhead reduction/budget
  • Management of Risk annual budget while considering the need to maintain a core Team of employees
  • Monthly P & L trade review capability
    Implementation of strategy and monitored it in terms of achievement of objectives and use of budget/financial resources on a monthly basis.
  • Appropriate strategies are provided for different locations in SA/Africa
  • Service level Agreement/contracts in place that specifies adequate levels of protection required by clients
  • Ensure performance contracts are in place and regular goal reviews completed to assess achievement of results
  • Apply poor performance management or employee relations management principles and processes should this be required
  • Provide support, coaching (train) and mentoring continuously to ensure that objectives are met
  • Ensure completed development plans for each employee
  • Allocation of resources appropriately to ensure operational demands are met
  • Ensure that events/activities taking place in team are effectively communicated within the team and to other teams requiring the information
  • Ensure adequate succession planning to meet on-going and anticipated business requirements
  • Enhance the technical and behavioral capability of all operational personnel within the business to ensure relevant the levels of competency and skills across the region’s businesses to facilitate improved business performance
  • Effective management of operations
  • Management of the provision of all Risk
  • Solutions related services to existing and new customers, ensuring that service levels are maintained and customer requirements met.
  • Conduct and provide Risk Solution services to customers, tailor making solutions to meet their needs and security risks.
  • Through the management of the Risk team, review the deployment and delivery of services, addressing areas of concern and good performance.
  • Maintain high level relationships with stakeholders to leverage business opportunities and collaboration with internal G4S businesses and customers
  • Develop and maintain sound customer relationships, and address service issues and opportunities.
  • Monitor management of Risk Solution business for the effectiveness of employees and productivity.
  • Effective management of business development/growth of product lines
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the competitor environment by gathering competitive and business intelligence and the attendance of networking events to enable
    identification of growth opportunities for the service line
  • Develop and implement marketing of product lines and service offerings in conjunction with the relevant department
  • Research and act on opportunities for ad hoc services, and tailored Risk assessment/solutions.
  • Develop network within the industry and customer base, including potential customers to capitalize on opportunities
  • Liaise and network with internal stakeholders, to increase awareness of services and products, facilitating cross product solutions and opportunities.
  • Implementation and adoption of company HSSEC strategy
  • Drive H&S awareness with department, through the adoption of Group strategy and principles
  • Maintain a zero tolerance of fatalities and a reduction in H&S incidents.
  • Prompt H&S conscious behavior within CPOs and team members, through internal training programs and enforcement of rules and guidelines.
  • Review and assist businesses and customers with H&S investigations and reviews.
  • Participate in the design/ development/ review/ implementation and monitoring of the branch/region/national safety plans for each year.
  • Participate in safety forums created by company for example safety meetings and safety talks
  • Report all safety incidents to the relevant people
  • Discuss all safety incidents on all levels
    Follow-up on any activities assigned through safety meeting/ committee/ representative/ management
  • Attend safety education and refresher programmes
  • Comply with safety policies and procedures at workplace
  • Distribute safety information as and when required
  • Wear protective clothing all the time

    Minimum Requirements:
  • Qualification in Security & Risk management degree or honours
  • 3-5 years with security/risk commercial management experience
  • Experience of reporting or managing Risk
  • Solutions within the African continent
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in management at P&L level
  • Preferably military or law enforcement background
