FilmAid International Terms of Reference Content Development Consultancy Jobs in Kenya FilmAid Kenya (FilmAid) is a development and humanitarian organization that harnesses the power and influence of film, media, and the arts to respond to displaced communities in need as well as promote social change.
FilmAid Kenya is implementing community communication projects in Dadaab, Kakuma, and Kalobeyei refugee camp and the host communities through the use of film shows with guided discussions on health, education, and rights.
FilmAid produces media content in conjunction with beneficiary communities in their communities and uses the material to dialogue ad inspire communities to positive behavior adoption.
FilmAid’s production process is participatory, taking into account creative contributions and technical advice from various stakeholders, including community leaders, the voice of women, youth, and persons with a disability, a specialist in health, rights, and other thematic fields that the communication will cover.
FilmAid Kenya wishes to engage the Content Development Consultancy to lead the implementation of production of multimedia content (Radio, Film, Brochures, Posters, Comic book) in Dadaab (Garissa) and Kakuma (Turkana) for use by refugee and host community beneficiaries.
The Consultant(s) is responsible for the production of films, audio and radio adaptations, language dubbing (ADRs), design of talking posters, comic strips, digital information packages using participatory methods to work with refugees, and host community production companies, partner with technical expertise, etc.
The audiovisual media must adhere to universally disability friendly formats for media by applying the Universal Design in Learning by providing media content in different ways to accommodate audiences with a range of impairments.
Films will not be less than 2 minutes long and not more than 8 minutes long.
Expected Deliverables and Output
The Consultant will Deliver
Lead co-creation workshops and media pretesting using stipulated methodology to collect and incorporate feedback in creative briefs, scripts, artwork, and final audiovisual materials
Participate in the hiring of refugees and host media production business, cast, and crew for the productions.
Supervise the work on refugee and host media production business to deliver high-quality media products as agreed upon when contracting and in stipulated timelines.
Keep a detailed account of meetings, training, feedback through reports, email and minutes of initial meetings with technical and advisory committees, co-creation workshops, pretesting workshops, training and production work detailing the outcomes of the activities
Provide technical support (planning, production, and post-production services) to production teams where needed.
Manage production equipment and resources provided for the project, including making requests for supplies to administration staff.
Account for personnel time, equipment, intellectual property, communication, finances, and all other areas governed in this TOR.
Build the capacity of refugee and host community production teams to develop professionally.

Document of human-interest stories (Videos) of CBOs involved in waste management for outreach for Kakuma and Kalobeyei - 2
Production of 1 film on Cash-Based Initiative (CB) with a refugee Video and media production company - 1
Design of Cash-Based Initiative (CBI) brochure - 1
Development of IEC material flier or brochure on business incubation legal frameworks and support for business registrations - 1
Video Production of film New Arrival Information Kit (NAIKO) - 1
Design of branding materials for New Arrival information Kit (NAIKO): Printing info pack in 10 languages (A4 with 3 folds) - 1
3-min video animation on the importance of latrine coverage and usage produced for Kalobeyei - 1
Production of dubs in 10 languages of 3-min video animation on the importance of latrine coverage and usage delivered for Kalobeyei - 10
Candidates who apply for this consultancy should ideally possess the following qualification:
Minimum diploma in film production, graphic design, communications or related field
Minimum four (4) years of progressively responsible professional work experience in film production.
The participant has highly developed communication skills with an excellent command of the English language.
Experiences in using participatory approaches in media for development production
Demonstrated experience working with refugees and host communities.
Willingness to work and live in remote location specifically Dadaab and Kakuma refugee camps
Onboarding of Consultant by March 20, 2020, or earlier, if possible.
Completed production activities according to the work plan that will be shared. However, all outputs listed must be complete before November 30, 2020.
Monthly status reports prepared by the Consultant
At least ten impact statements (anecdotes. Quotes) reported from beneficiaries of the project.
Submit in reports action photos of high quality with captions reported with the monthly reports.
Record minutes and reports from meetings, workshops, and training shared with the Programme Management team.
Provide evidence of a capacity building of refugee and host community business, consultation with communities evidenced in report, and minutes submitted.
