FHI 360 currently is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Institutional Development Advisor (IDA) on the anticipated USAID-funded Uganda Integrated Child and Youth Development (ICYD) Activity.

The IDA will provide technical oversight of the activity’s efforts to build the institutional capacity of partner local organizations to evolve and transition to USAID prime awards.

Working with a team of other institutional development specialists, the IDA will lead the development and harmonization of operational tools and other standard operating procedures (SOP) across all participating local partner organizations, including the management of sub-grant arrangements between the ICYD participating local partners and other local organizations.

Recruitment is contingent upon successful award of the project and the selection of the final applicant is subject to USAID approval. Nationals of Uganda are strongly encouraged to apply.

Essential Job Functions: Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation of institutional capacity needs assessments of ICYD’s partner local organization(s)
  • Develop and implement an institutional development plan (IDP) specific to each participating local organization that includes a determination of institutional growth milestones across various capacities
  • Coordinate with other institutional development specialists to develop and harmonize a set of operational tools and other standard operating procedures (SOP) across all participating local partner organizations
  • Ensure the smooth running of day-to-day operations and to support them in achieving the expected results in line with the agreed timelines and to high quality standards
  • Facilitate institutional training and coaching and advise capacity development structure personnel

    Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in international development, program management, or other relevant field from an accredited university
  • At
    least five years of working in health or education projects in Uganda
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-cultural environments
  • Demonstrated ability to create and maintain effective working relations with host country government personnel, stakeholders, NGO partners, and international donor agencies
  • Demonstrated coaching or mentorship skills, including tact and professionalism
  • Experience in participatory training methodologies
  • Experience with USG-funded projects, as well as education or health-related projects is preferred
  • Familiarity with Ugandan public-sector health and education systems, international donor organizations, NGOs, and CBOs is required
    Written and oral fluency in English
