Farsight is recruiting a business development officer for advocay and communications department with demonstrated experience in proposal writing,business development,marketing,sales,events planning and outreach.
Duties and Responsibilities
Leading the strategic development of communications programs and elevating the organization's corporate profile.
Lead in the proposal development and concept notes for the communications department.
Responsible for developing a consistent internal and external corporate brand messaging strategy that is reflected across all product and service programs, as well as internal marketing programs.
Develops communications key messages and talking points and manages the implementation across all communications programs (marketing, PR, IR, internal etc.). Assist with strategic communication requirements for executive, including presentation development, interview talking points and speech writing.
Serves as chief media strategist and company spokesperson; owns crisis communications planning and CSR programs. Responsible for identifying and building relationships with new and existing editors, reporters, producers, bloggers and tech analysts to increase media coverage.
Monitors industry issues and competitive landscape to adjust company positioning and messaging as required.
Lead, develop, motivate, manage and work with a high performing team, including design agencies and contractors, to meet strategic goals and business objectives while staying within budget.
Build strong working relationships with company executives, Marketing/Sales/Business Development Team, vendors, agencies and Farsight partners to promote an integrated communications approach across the organization.
Create and implement training programs for executive leaders and partners to increase their communication skills and capabilities
Identify, develop, distribute and evaluate variety of media materials in multiple, appropriate formats (Press releases, feature stories etc.).
Ensure or enhance the quality, appropriateness of country specific communication materials, activities, processes and messages transmitted to the press, partners and public.
Develop a work plan for communication activities, monitor compliance and provide support and guidance to ensure objectives are met.
Plan and monitor the use of communication budgetary resources. Approve and monitor the overall allocation and disbursement and liquidation of funds.
Take appropriate actions to optimize use of funds.
Required Skills and Experience
A minimum of a bachelor's degree or equivalent in communications, journalism, public relations, social sciences, international relations, or related field.
At least 3-5 years of relevant professional experience in communications at the national or international level, including experience in media relations.
Previous experience in developing proposals and concept notes in advocacy and communications.
Experience of working with UN/UN agencies or private sector is desirable.
Experience of working in East African region with focus in Somalia.
Fluency in English, both oral and written, is required.
