Embassy of Brazil in Addis Ababa Administrative Assistant JobsThe Embassy of Brazil in Addis Ababa announces that an open selection process will take place for the recruitment of two (02) Administrative Assistants to provide support to the Embassy’s Chancery,
in accordance with the Brazilian Regulatory Decree No. 1570 of 07/21/95, the Ministerial Ordinance of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil of 09/12/95, and according to the rules of this Notice.
The Administrative Assistants are the employees to be hired locally to provide support for administrative services, full time.
The Administrative Assistants working relationships with the Embassy of Brazil in Addis Ababa shall be regulated by the Ethiopian labour legislation.
This recruitment process is not a public tender and it will not convert any hired person in a civil servant governed by the Brazilian 8.112/1990 law.
These Administrative Assistants posts do not characterize public positions or public functions.
The Employment and Assignments
two (02) posts to local Administrative Assistants for the Embassy’s Chancery.
This offer intends to hire two Administrative Assistants to provide support to
the Embassy’s Chancery.
The job consists of assisting in daily office needs and managing general administrative activities;
perform general clerical duties to include but not limited to photocopying, faxing, mail distribution and filing; coordinate, elaborate and maintain records of requested researches;
create and modify documents using mainly editing applications, worksheets and data
banks; advanced use of internet (“browser” operations, “FTP”, file transfer, remote access to information sources, etc.);
write specialized professional texts in English (official documents and reports);
prepare synthesis and interpretation of documents;
translate and elaborate version in
English or Portuguese to official documents, according to the Embassy needs; advanced knowledge
either in Economics, Foreign Relations,
Accounting, Management or related fields and, if possible, notions of the Portuguese language.
This is a position to hire two Administrative
Assistants to be responsible, among other activities, to properly serve the Embassy needs related to assist the Embassy’s Chancery according to specific rules and using appropriate systems, produce, translate, develop and classify official papers and
routines; speak to foreign authorities, external public and other Embassy employees; and,
occasionally, to work in odd time schedules.
The contract terms will define working hours, compensations, time off, overtime and holidays.
Notwithstanding the above, the contractor may not refuse different duties from those described.
Hours and Benefits
The position has a daily work period of 8 hours and it may be set during the morning,
afternoon or evening shifts, considering the Embassy needs.
This work period includes (1) hour/day
for lunchtime and one (1) day/week to rest.
The Selection Method
Selection for the two local Administrative Assistants posts for the Embassy of Brazil will include four (04) eliminatory and classificatory phases, composed by: I- Pre-selection of candidates according to evaluation of the documentation submitted (including verifiable references from previous jobs);
II-Interview conducted by the Selection Committee; III- English Essay; IV - Office applications (Word
and Excel 2016), Adobe Photoshop (or equivalent) and Internet knowledge exam.
Tie-breakers (in the following order)
Best notions /knowledge of the Portuguese language, evaluation in the English Essay;
computer skills exam and best previous employment references.
For all the candidates
Registration application form (attached);
CV with photo, telephone, e-mail and address, written in English;
Copy of letter(s) of recommendation in Portuguese, Spanish, French or English, with verifiable references (send contact information: name of company/person who issued the recommendation, telephone and e-mail address);
Minimum age of eighteen (18) years old at the time of admission;
Copy of local identity document followed by Portuguese, Spanish, French or English translation;
Copy of address proof, such as water, electricity or telephone bills, or residence certificate (if in Amharic or other language different of Portuguese, Spanish, French or English, shall be followed by a translation in any of those languages);
Copy of Diploma (minimum High school level, University level preferable);
Copy of any English Certificate, minimum High Intermediate (English courses, diploma of any degree taken in schools that uses English as main language, etc.);
Letter of interest, in English, explaining your experience and reasons you are applying for this position.
For Non-Ethiopian candidates only:
Proof of residence and legal permission to exercise remunerated activity in accordance with local law;
For Brazilian candidates only
Electoral discharge certificate, which may be obtained online at www.tse.gov.br;
For male candidates, proof of being up to date with military service;
Statement confirming the candidate is not a Brazilian civil servant, retiree or pensioner.

Pre-selected candidates call
The list of candidates called for pre-selection interview will be published in
on the probable date of February 21st 2020 (Friday), along with announcements regarding dates and times for the interviews and exam.
The interview and the English Essay/Computer skills exam will be on the probable date of February 25th 2020 (Tuesday).
those selected notified (by contacts provided in the curriculum) by the probable date of February 27th 2020
(Thursday) to sign contract on March 3rd 2020 (Tuesday).
Process expiration date
This selection process will be valid for twelve (12) months from the date of publication of the final result.
During this period, the candidates considered suitable may be hired if there is a vacancy.
The employment contract will have an initial duration of 45 days, which will be considered a
"probation period". During this time, if the employee is considered not suitable for the position, the contract can be suspended or cancelled.
The original documents listed in item 4 must the submitted in the hiring day in addition to the following documents:
Original medical certificate for physical and mental fitness;
Certificate of criminal record.
