  • Our client is a Start-Up in the EdTech industry and has developed an Education App to enable learning and working that leverage technology.

  • They seek to hire a Sales and Marketing Lead to represents the company’s brand and drives strategies to increase product awareness and sales, by observing the market, competitors, and industry trends.

    Responsibilities

  • Own ultimate responsibility for successfully meeting or exceeding sales goals and securing strong brand recognition among schools and other stakeholders

  • Research marketing and sales opportunities to understand both the existing market and potential new markets. You are required to have a deep knowledge of the education market, the customer, the customer requirements, factors that impact sales, and the market trends.

  • Build a highly competent Sales and Marketing team by identifying, recruiting, and managing high-quality talent that will drive the business strategy forward.

  • Create a clear plan for the sales and marketing department covering activity schedules, budgets, expenditures, and sales goals in close cooperation with the education, engineering, and production teams.

  • Visit schools, travel to trade shows and meet with prospective customers.

  • Analyze sales statistics to measure business growth and determine strategies for increased performance. Conduct regular check-in meetings to report on performance.

  • Work closely with the education and technology teams to develop a profile of, and identify and engage partner schools participating in the co-creation of the MILES solution.

  • Equip the sales teams with the information, tools, and resources to effectively sell our titles to schools. Maintain advanced product knowledge for the sales and marketing team across the entire portfolio to ensure the right information is passed on to the customer.

  • Process sales representatives commission reports

  • Maintain communication with internal teams and customers regarding sales and marketing initiatives.

  • Assess inventory stock levels and contribute to decisions around print run and replenishment

  • Assist with individual account queries including order placement, MILES deployment, invoicing, and school support.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key customers and accounts.

    Requirements

  • B.A. in Marketing, Publishing, Business, or closely related field

  • 10 years of experience working in publishing sales. Experience in the book trade and/or publishing or related media fields is critical.

  • 5 years of experience selling books and educational materials directly to schools.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the book publishing landscape in Kenya.

  • Strong relationships with schools and other book buyers.

  • Able to formulate thoughtful, persuasive, and succinct pitches tailored to the needs of customers.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong presentation skills, experience pitching books.

  • Ability to manage simultaneous projects with demonstrated attention to detail.

  • Must be able to thrive in a highly collaborative environment.

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Work Format: Office-based. 1-year consultancy, renewable
