DPF Senior Officer – Accounts Operations Jobs in Uganda


Job Purpose

  • To carry out daily financial activities and functions including payments, budgeting and reconciliations.

  • Ensures all financial operations follow internal policies statutory requirements and accounting standards.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Budget and payroll management.

  • Process payments and keep records of the bills paid.

  • Enforce proper accounting methods, policies and practices.

  • Participate in the formulation and implementation of financial controls to avoid errors and fraudulent practices.

  • Preparation and submission of statutory returns within stipulated deadlines.

    Duties

  • Ensures timely management of receivables and payables and ensures that creditor terms are appropriately followed.

  • Ensures compliance with statutory obligations relating to taxation, NSSF, pension contributions and other statutory requirements.

  • Coordinates annual budgetary and reporting processes in line with the strategic plan.

  • Prepares periodic management reports and monitors budget performance.

  • Manages the payroll and ensures timely reconciliations.

  • Manages the imprest and maintains records.

  • Maintains records of all financial transactions

  • Performs periodic accounts reconciliations and ensures timely reporting

  • Prepares and monitors cash flow projections.

  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned, within your scope of practice.

    Expected Outputs

  • Timely and accurate payments

  • An annual inventory of Fund’s assets and liabilities.

  • Accounting rules, amendments and supplements.

  • Coordination of Fund budget activities.

  • Monthly close process and other daily activities (e.g. journal entries, accruals process, account reconciliations).

  • Payables and receivables accounting.

  • Payroll management and knowledge of finance statutory requirements

  • Numerical proficiency, accuracy and speed.

  • Budgeting, forecasting, statistics.

  • Solid knowledge of IASs and IFRSs.

  • Attention to detail

    Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • A first-class or upper second-class bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, commerce, economics statistics, mathematics, business administration or related field, from an accredited institution, is essential.

  • 3+ years of related experience in areas of finance policies, practices and systems are essential.

  • Professional accounting certification in accounting such as ACCA, Certified Public Accountant (Uganda) or related field is essential.

  • Demonstrated proficiency of MS office packages is desirable.
