  • The Unified Communications Team has responsibilities focused on the smooth running of our customer’s Cisco Unified comms environments, including inbound or outbound call centers.

  • As a Tech Lead (L4) engineer you will help set the technical strategy for customers around Incident, Problem, and Change Management.

  • You will work alongside Project, Transition, and Service Delivery management teams to assist in the smooth transition and onboarding of new customers.

  • You will support environments where infrastructure includes, but is not limited to, local wired network equipment, network storage, or voice-specific application servers (ie. Cisco Call Manager, Cisco Unity, Cisco UCCX, etc).

  • The role forms part of the highest point of technical escalation for customers and colleagues, as such you will be expected to participate in high-impact, high urgency incidents where prompt resolution and root cause analysis is required. Your technical experience as well as your strong troubleshooting skills will be paramount in this role.

    Role Requirements

  • Responsible for IPT Voice and Analog Gateways, maintenance, upgrades, refresh, troubleshooting, etc.

  • Responsible for technical support of the Organizations Cisco Unified Collaboration-related technologies. Updating of as-built documentation of infrastructure and work instructions

  • Generation and activation of security certificates for the relevant Cisco products as per vendor best practice

  • Identification of any potential risks prior, during, and after implementation of solutions

  • On-time Certification of relevant products supported.

  • Knowledge share, coaching, and mentoring of L2-L3 engineers on a regular basis.

  • Drafting and sharing of best practice documents.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Presentation skills

  • The ability to work overtime when required

  • The ability to work outside of South
    Africa for short periods of time when required

  • Own reliable transport and valid driver’s license

  • The ability to work independently as well as in a team

    Requirements

    Required Qualifications:

  • To qualify you must have work experience in complex organizations.

  • 10 - 15 years of relevant experience. Valid CCIE Collaboration Certification desired.

  • Extensive experience with Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Cisco Unity Connection, Cisco Unified Contact Center Express, Cisco Attendant console, Cisco IMP, Cisco Customer Collaboration Platform, and Expressway in enterprise deployments, including bulk administration, provisioning, and management of endpoints and user accounts in large-scale systems

  • Solid experience with voice gateways: MGCP, SIP, H.323, SCCP, digital PRI/E1, analog FXO/FXS.

  • Extensive experience with Border Element, media resources, SRST/SRSV.

  • Working Experience with Cisco Unified Contact Center Express, including but not limited to UC Manager integration, scripting, high availability clustering.

  • Extensive experience with design and implementation for UC environment.

  • Extensive experience with CME/CUE.

  • Strong knowledge and extensive experience in dial plan designs and implementation.

  • Experience with virtualization, specifically VMware, Cisco UCS B/C-Series servers & Wireshark

  • Experience with Cisco TelePresence video solutions.

  • Extensive experience with Cisco audio and video conferencing solutions.

  • Experience with voice carrier systems from – Telkom, Neotel, Vodacom, MTN, Experience with multi-cluster call manager environments.

  • ARC and Call Cabinet expertise is advantageous.

  • Strong problem solving and analytic skills to isolate problems, recommend solutions, and implementation of solutions.

  • Basic knowledge of Network switching & routing.
