Reporting to: Chief Operating Officer

Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the role holder will be responsible for the delivery of production technology to the Bank and lead a team of IT operations experts in supporting all technology solutions and assuring the stability and health of the technology services to enhance service delivery and ultimately customer experience.

The role as well advises on technology strategy, technology security and standards, technology architecture, Core Banking Systems, Infrastructure management, as well as implementation and maintenance of these systems in a client-centric manner.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Interpret and execute the Business and digital strategies of dfcu Bank, and ensure that the BT Operations work plans, technology deployments are aligned to the Business objectives.
  • Define, propose and advise on the Bank IT policies.
  • Define, propose and advise on the technology and production environment operating models of the Bank
  • Effectively and efficiently deploy IT Service Management.
  • Drive and coordinate partnership with the Bank leadership team to meet the ICT investments and needs of the Bank’s mission, vision and strategic aspirations.
  • Build and maintain a top performing BT Operations team at dfcu
  • Define, establish and drive departmental metrics/goals and objectives; report department accomplishments and plans on a regular basis.
  • Manage staff in an effective manner (hiring, motivation, retention, performance/rewards assessments, development/corrective actions etc.).
  • Define, propose and advise on the technology and production environment operating models of the Bank.
  • Draw and implement the BT operations plan for the dfcu Bank’s digital strategy.
  • Plan, advise on and drive the enterprise technology platforms medium-term (3 year) work plan.
  • Organise and control the planning, deployment and maintenance of the Bank’s production technology platforms.
  • Ensure stable, effective and efficient technology platforms for dfcu Bank
  • Ensure harmonious alignment with activities and requirements associated with the Bank technology team.
  • Ensure the long-term Enterprise technology Plan is aligned with change strategy and the bank’s IT policy
  • Provide Enterprise technology advisory to the Bank’s senior management team.
  • Provide advisory on the Bank’s strategic enterprise IT investments.
  • Build and ensure a tested, working and reliable IT Disaster recovery plan.
  • Establish IT security and lower IT risk profile.
  • Oversee timely and effective closure of IT audit findings.
  • Strong cyber security management.

    Qualifications, Experience and Competencies required:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology. A relevant advanced (Master’s or Postgraduate) University degree.
  • Professional certification in technology governance and/or leadership e.g. ITIL, CGEIT, CISM, or other relevant.
  • Professional certification(s) in any other IT field.
  • 10+ years of demonstrable working experience in a busy IT environment
  • 5+ years team leadership experience in the enterprise IT space
  • Proven leadership and organisational development skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in best practices for managing technology and human resource performance at an enterprise level.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable and agile in difficult situations.
  • Proven ability to solve and advise on complex analytical challenges.
  • Significant experience with one or more IT engineering disciplines: e.g. Storage, databases (SQL Server), Virtualization / Server Hardware, Networking, Systems Development, IT Service Management, etc
  • Awareness of industry best practices in IT security.
