DeLyde Associates Limited Accountant Jobs in KenyaJob DetailsOur client, is a large and well established international co-educational day school based in Nairobi, following the British National Curriculum (BNC).
It incorporates kindergarten, preparatory school, and senior school including A-Level school. Our client is seeking to recruit a qualified person to the position of Accountant.
The individual will be hardworking, have integrity, presentable, team player, with good communication, and interpersonal skills.
He/she must also have a good grasp of financial and management accounting.
Knowledge and experience in the education sector will be an added advantage.
High integrity, agility, attention to details, flexibility, and being a self-starter will be essential.
Reporting directly to the Finance Manager (FM), main responsibilities will involve:
Ensure compliance with internal control policies on all financial transactions.
Accurate posting of all financial transactions — Petty cash, cash book (bank), payroll, customer invoices, supplier invoices, and general journals.
Preparation of accurate bank reconciliations and inter-company reconciliations.
Proper management of the petty cash float with periodic cash counts.
Ensure collection of trade debtors when they fall due to enable settlement of payables when they fall due.
Ensure settlement of payables when they fall due so as not to disrupt services.
Processing of loan repayments by the due dates and recording of investment income when earned.
Reviewing the general ledger accounts for proper posting and analysis of key balance sheet accounts for accurate reflection of assets and liabilities.
Review supplier payment vouchers to ensure completeness and that all required documents and approvals have been obtained before posting.
Check expenses within the financial year against budget and provide reports on significant variances as a way of managing costs.
Ensure statutory and regulatory payments are made by the due dates to ensure full compliance.
Assis the FM in the coordination, review, and consolidation of departmental budgets.
Prepare timely, accurate, and reliable monthly management accounts.
Prepare year-end financial accounts with supporting analysis and documents in readiness for statutory audit.
Work in harmony and cooperation with other departments so that they may see the finance department as a valued partner.
Assist the FM on any other financial related matters.
• Fully qualified CPA(K) or ACCA with over 5 years working experience in a similar position or the role of an assistant accountant in a large and busy environment.
• A university degree in an economic field.
• Computer literacy, especially on Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and MS Excel.
• Skills and training in soft skills such as planning and prioritising; and time management.
• Over 30 years of age
