  • Our Client, an NGO in the sports sector seeks a Safeguarding Officer.

  • Responsible for ensuring the necessary safeguarding policies and procedures are enforced and maintained.

  • The Safeguarding Officer is the first point of contact and lead advisor for any Safe Sport related matters for the organisation.

    Job Description

    • Act as lead in developing and establishing the organisations approach to safeguarding and athlete protection

    • Input into the design of safeguarding systems, policies and procedures

    • Act as a source of support, advice and expertise to the Board, staff, volunteers and affiliate Sport Associations in safeguarding-related matters.

    • Liaise with Safe Sport Commission on Safe Sport policy development and awareness training

    • Provide advice on the safeguarding training needs and the development of its training strategy

    • Deliver high quality safeguarding related training.

    • Act as the first point of contact for any safeguarding concern or breach, provide timely, relevant support and advice in order to safeguard the victim(s)

    • Manage and report any concerns related to breaches of Safe Sport practices to the Safe Sport Commission, Secretary General and relevant Agencies were appropriate.

    • Establish and maintain a working relationship with relevant statutory, voluntary and community agencies

    • Provide, collate and monitor regular, accurate and timely data on safeguarding incidents and outcomes.

    • Maintain up to date, accurate, confidential records

    • Ensure that Codes
    of Conduct are in place for staff, volunteers, coaches, athletes and affiliate Sport Associations during administered programmes and activities and that they are communicated to the relevant parties.

    • Attend internal and external safeguarding related meetings

    • Promote Safe Sport practices to all staff, athletes, volunteers and to all members of the sporting fraternity

    • Be able to conduct safeguarding awareness trainings for National Associations, volunteers and relevant stakeholders.

    • Work closely with partners such as NIF on relevant programmes/workplans as determined by the SG.

    Candidate Specification

    • Experience: 2 years

    • Education Level: Degree

    • Qualifications: Educated to Degree Level or equivalent related to Humanities/Social Behaviour. Holder of a Safeguarding qualification or Counselling qualification

    • Software: Computer proficient in standard office applications

    • Equipment: Available safeguarding support services and referral routes; Best practice in harassment and abuse prevention

    • Knowledge Of: Previous experience in community-based conflicts management. Have a good, sound, working knowledge of current safeguarding, child and adult protection legislation, statutory and other related guidance

    • Skills To: Administration and systems (records) management skills; Planning processes for safeguarding initiatives

    • Ability To: Develop and produce national level guidance and resources; work with conflict and emotionally distressing matters; deliver core training through different platforms within the organisation

    • Other Requirements: Good knowledge of the Olympic Movement would be an added advantage
