County Government of Kakamega Senior Assistant Director of Medical Services - Medical Specialist - Emergency and Critical Care Jobs in Kenya

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:-

Review patients and perform emergency and critical care procedures including conducting
Casualty and Intensive Care Unit ward rounds;

Ensure leadership and stewardship of the Accident and Emergency Department including
active participation in the Intensive Care Unit patient reviews and management;

Undertake “first-on-call” duties including clerking, investigating, and managing patients
including responding to emergency calls as required;

Train, supervise and mentor medical officer - Interns, registrars, medical officers and other students;

Carry out patient health education, promotion and capacity building of staff

Undertake medico-legal duties such as filling P3 Forms and court attendance when necessary;

Prepare data, analysis and use; and

Prepare medical reports for patients.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade an officer must have:-

Served as Assistant Director of Medical Services/Medical Specialist II, Job Group ‘P’ for a minimum period of three (3) years;

Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery

(M.B. Ch.B.) degree from a university
recognized by Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council

Master of Medicine in Emergency Medicine/Critical Care from a university recognized by Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council;

Valid Registration Certificate by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council;

valid practicing license from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council;

Specialist recognition as an Emergency and Critical Care doctor by the Kenya Medical
Practitioners and Dentists Council
