    Job Summary:

  • The Production Officer will report to the Production Manager and is responsible for assisting in the day to day running of production. Participate in creating and maintaining an efficient production schedule that meets customer demands and quality standards while efficiently utilizing resources such as inventory, manpower and machinery; challenge status quo and drive for continuous improvement in production.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in creating the master production schedule – weekly and monthly – to meet sales demands while maintaining target inventory levels.

  • Create workflow plans and schedules for each production section e.g., tablets, capsules, oral liquids, dry powders, topical preparations, blister packing, etc.

  • Minimize downtime on machines by constantly following up with maintenance, and developing technically skilled operators who can trouble shoot and resolve machine breakdowns, etc.

  • Take the lead in reducing defects during manufacturing and increasing production performance at every level.

  • Undertake documentation required during production and ensure that the documentation is done in accordance with GMP requirements.

  • Follow up with Engineering for preventative maintenance as planned, calibration and validation per plan, troubleshooting of machine and utility related breakdowns to optimize machine uptime.

  • Reviewing all production records, including but not limited to batch manufacturing records to ensure they are evaluated and signed off by the designated employee in order to facilitate release of finished goods.

  • Creating weekly/monthly management reports showing clearly actual performance vs targets for key production metrics

  • Participate in both self-inspections and external audits from various authorities.

  • Enforce the adherence to all SOPs and principles of GMP in day-to-day production activities.

  • Ensure that proper and timely documentation as required during production is done and in line with data integrity principles.

  • Provide guidance and expertise to develop production supervisor’s knowledge and capacity to handle production needs in their respective sections.

  • Ensure the management and efficiency of your departmental staff and take necessary actions and decisions in regard to employee life cycle
    activities e.g., recruitment, trainings, performance management, motivation, discipline management and separation in line with HR policy.

  • Champion the compliance of the production team with Company health, safety and environmental standards, and oversee proper maintenance, housekeeping, and cleaning of production areas and machines.

  • Take lead on implementation of proposed corrective and preventative action CAPA on time in full.

  • Minimize on wastage of man hours, by allocating/ re-allocating personnel to the other departments in line with production schedules.

  • Responsible for overall security of the production facility – e.g., by ensuring the facility is closed over the weekend to prevent any unwarranted access to the facility.

  • Be present in the premises at all times when there is a production shift (day and night). This will be done through shift scheduling and on a rotational basis.

  • Ensure work orders on Sage are closed and tracked accordingly at every stage of manufacturing.

  • Review shop floor employees’ performance and identify training needs.

  • To adhere and comply to; all cGMP and GDocP records/data standards, ALCOA principles, and the company code of conduct for data integrity.

  • Raise deviation and change contracts in respect to respective departments for the required change.

  • Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.


  • Minimum diploma in Computer Science, or Information Technology or related field;

  • Three (3) years’ working experience as a systems administrator.

  • Display a mastery in troubleshooting and deductive reasoning.

  • Ability to achieve general IT tools maintenance.

  • Ability to carry out general maintenance required for operation of systems and networks.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.

  • Self-motivated and can work with no supervision.

  • Computer Literacy i.e., Ms. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access etc.
