Commission on Administrative Justice - Commission Secretary / CEO Jobs in Kenya

Job purpose

  • The Commission Secretary/CEO is the Accounting/Authorized officer of the Commission; and is responsible for day to day running of activities of the Commission and in providing strategic leadership and direction towards
    realization of the Commission’s mandate as outlined in the Constitution (2010), CAJ Act, 2011, Access to Information Act, 2016, Fair Administrative Action Act, 2015 and other relevant legislations.

    Duties and Responsibilities of the position entail:

  • Provide requisite leadership to ensure the Commission attains a high level of responsiveness, accountability, professionalism, competitiveness, high performance and ethical standards in its undertakings;

  • Formulating, implementing and reviewing the Strategic plan, Annual plan and Budget.

  • Coordinate the day-to-day operations and administrative functions of the Commission;

  • Implement and direct the Commission’s operational and human resource function and performance;

  • Implement the policies and programs of the Commission and reporting thereon to the Commission through timely and accurately prepared
    Commission papers;

  • Oversee the implementation of Commission’s decisions and policies;

  • Analyze and make recommendations to the Commission on emerging issues, strategies and legal framework that relates to the Commission’s

  • Coordinate preparation and presentation of various Commission reports including statutory reports;

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures of the Commission that will improve operational and financial effectiveness;

  • Ensure effective risk management at the Commission;

  • Ensure proper management of Commission’s property; and

  • Spearheads the development and
    implementation of efficient systems that support the effective use of the Commission’s resources;

  • Oversee effective management of change within the Commission;

  • Establish and maintain robust partnership with government agencies, development partners and other stakeholders;

  • Mentor and coach members of senior management to foster growth and staff development.

    Requirements for Appointment

    For appointment to this grade an officer must: -

  • Be a citizen of Kenya

  • Hold a degree from a university recognized in Kenya. A relevant Master’s Degree will be an added advantage

  • Have at least ten (10) years proven experience at management level;

  • Meets the provisions of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010;

  • A member of a professional body in good standing where applicable.

  • Exhibits an understanding of national goals, policies and objectives and ability to relate them to the Commission’s mandate.
