Job Description

  • Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) presents an exciting opportunity for a seasoned Head of Strategy and Performance.

  • The successful incumbent will join the Coca-Cola Beverages Africa Head Office, reporting directly to the Chief Growth Officer.

  • The successful Senior candidate will identify and articulate the strategies that the Growth Office need to carry out to achieve excellent performance and a competitive advantage for CCBA.

  • Coca-Cola Beverages Africa is the largest African Coca-Cola bottler, accounting for 40 percent of all Coca-Cola volumes on the continent. CCBA is a market leader in the NARTD (non-alcoholic ready to drink market) in Africa. CCBA has an extensive footprint in Africa, employing over 16 000 employees

    Key Duties & Responsibilities

    • Key member of the strategy team and will be responsible for assisting in defining the Commercial strategic vision and strategic planning, working with various teams to execute on long range strategic plans.

    • To oversee the project management of all key Commercial initiatives identified to delivering growth

    • Identifying immediate, medium and long-term synergies of the existing business units and the newly acquired business units

    • Planning process alignment with Business Units (category growth, Nett Sales Revenue (NSR) expectation, Innovation pipelines. Strategic and Annual Business planning and coordination and Alignment aligned to the ACTION Framework.

    • Utilizing scenario to identifying step function/ exponential growth and managing top line risks Directly supporting both newly merged business units (BU’s), as part of the project management team, and assisting when required Leveraging

    • Knowledge and Insight and Conjoint study with BU – Consumer, Shopper
    and Customer

    • Understanding, evaluating and benchmarking Competitor landscape and other successful African Businesses Scenario planning to identifying growth opportunities (white spaces in current verses game changing “what ifs” Deliberately aligning and measuring performance to short and long-term goals:

    • Redefining performance management and aligning to the 2024 Game plan

    • Judgement and decision making

    • Agile in thinking and nimble in decision making Adapt at discerning and balancing the most important priorities (simplifies complexity) Simplifies the decision-making process for self and others Efficiently applies rigour and operating discipline to ensure decisions are made on a timely basis

    • Exhibits high level of commercial pragmatism and prudent commercial judgment Thrives in ambiguity and effectively applies sound intuition/judgment Assesses and makes clear trade-offs when making critical decisions Applies a broad base of knowledge and experience to solve complex issues

    • Proven ability to foresee and act against potential risks to the business/system as a whole

    Skills, Experience & Education

    • Education Marketing qualification and MBA preferable.

    • Experience 10+ years of experience in Sales and Marketing plus at least 5 years in management; 3-5 years of experience in business administration, management consulting or strategic planning;

    • Excellent understanding of business operations and procedures;

    • Substantial exposure to corporate strategy management, with direct exposure to top management strategy formulation and decision making;

    • Experience in a wide range of strategic decision-making processes and as a result have become comfortable assessing a business / business proposal and making appropriate choices.
