  • CHS is currently sourcing for a high calibre, self-motivated and dynamic individual to fill the position of Technical Officer HIV Care and Treatment to be based in Siaya County.

    Overall Job Function

  • Reporting to the Senior Technical Officer, the Technical Officer HIV Care and Treatment is a key member of CHS program staff involved in the planning and execution of HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment services.

  • The Program Officer is responsible for on-site mentoring and implementation of HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment activities.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to health workers in all aspects of planning and implementation of HIV services (care and treatment, TB/HIV, and PMTCT & GBV) to ensure that patients receive the full complement of prevention, treatment and care in accordance to GoK/MoH and other applicable standards.

  • Build the skills and knowledge of targeted clinical staff on HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment, TB and PMTCT through on job training, mentorship, case reviews and CMEs

  • Provide on-going supervision of CHS-supported HIV prevention, care and treatment activities in assigned sites including scheduled joint supportive supervision with County and Sub-County level MoH staff.

  • Assist in program monitoring and evaluation with reporting through national HMIS tools and other tools in use by CHS and its funding partners.

  • Routinely monitor program quality through QI approaches as well as elements of operations research including identification and documentation of ‘best practices’ to ensure high quality HIV/AIDS service provision.

  • Support scale up of PNS in Viremia clinics at CCC and PMTCT set ups.

  • Oversee follow-up care of PMTCT clients and HIV exposed infants in CHS supported facilities.

  • Timely preparation and submission of activity
    budgets, work plans, reports and other technical papers.

  • Assisting in program monitoring and evaluation and use of data to inform program planning and continuous improvement as well as research as needed.

  • Support in design and implementation of GBV interventions, mentorship on GBV, documentation and report writing on GBV.

  • Track and ensure real time documentation of patients’ information in the EMR by Clinician/Nurse in sites implementing EMR Point of Care

  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

    Person Specification

  • Degree in Clinical Medicine, public health, Nursing or health-related field. Master’s degree in a relevant health related field will be an added advantage.

  • At least three years’ experience in implementing HIV programming

  • Training in HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment including current national guidelines.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages for report writing and presentation. Experience in EMR utilization is added advantage.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work well with others and to develop and maintain relationships

  • Ability to use data to identify gaps/challenges and design interventions and strategies and oversee their implementation.

  • Ability to train and mentor others through CMEs, on job training and skills transfer

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Kiswahili
