Purpose Statement

  • To deliver the technology platforms that enables the Capitec Digital Commerce Division to execute its strategy and operating model.

  • To lead the delivery of the technology teams that develop, implement and run the systems that enable Capitec clients and businesses to buy and sell online. This includes (but is not limited to) developing solutions for:

  • Retail clients to buy online;

  • Businesses to sell online;

  • Partners to deliver value to clients and businesses; and

  • Technical integrations with 3rd party solution providers.

  • To oversee the ongoing drive to increase efficiency, optimisation and innovation in the Digital Commerce Division



  • 5 – 7 years’ proven experience in software development, architecture, and project delivery & implementation (previous roles may include: System Architect / Analyst Developer or any roles relating to software delivery).

  • Experience in working with digital product development methodologies (refer to minimum knowledge)

  • Experience in working with the following development technologies:


  • Full Stack Web Development

  • Modern HTML, CSS, JavaScript

  • NodeJS / Deno (alternatively C#, Java)

  • Hybrid mobile app development

  • Architecture & Development:

  • Experience & knowledge of UML diagrams

  • Proven practical experience with application development (hands-on code)


  • 7+ years’ proven experience in software development, architecture, project delivery & implementation

  • Experience in managing a team of specialists within an Agile environment.

  • Previous digital product development and delivery experience.

  • Supervisory experience ideal.

    Qualifications (Minimum)

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology - Computer Science or Information Technology.

    Qualifications (Ideal or Preferred)

  • Bachelor's Degree in
    Information Technology - Computer Science or Information Technology.



  • IT systems development processes (SDLC).

  • Application, Web & Mobile development.

  • System analysis & design.

  • Modelling techniques (e.g. UML).

  • Standards and governance.

  • Testing practices.

  • Resource scheduling practices.

    In-depth understanding of the following methodologies:

  • Agile

  • Object-oriented Development.

  • Web API & RESTful web services.

  • System design patterns (MVC, Serverless compute).

  • Unified Modelling Language.

  • Relational & NoSQL Database Design.

  • Cloud architecture & platforms (Azure, AWS).

  • Container Platforms (Docker, Kubernetes).


  • Banking systems and digital banking channels.

  • Capitec Bank’s systems environment.

  • Capitec Bank business model.

  • Best practices for Quality Assurance (QA).

  • Design thinking.

  • User experience design.
