Bishop Stuart University Assistant Secretary in-charge of Administration Academics Jobs in Uganda Bishop Stuart University (Chartered by the Government of the Republic of Uganda- Chartered 2014) is a growing Ankole Diocese Church of Uganda (Anglican) founded institution located in Mbarara on Kakoba Hill 5km from the town Centre.
The Assistant Secretary in-charge of Administration will be responsible for the implementation of the Administrative responsibilities in the University.
Master’s degree in Public Administration, Project Planning, Development Studies, Monitoring & Evaluation, Psychology/Management, and any other related Masters.
Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Project Planning, Development Studies, Psychology/Management, and any other relevant degree.
Applicants must have at least 6 years of administrative working experience at a Senior Management level in a University or Higher Institution of learning of equivalent level.
Fluency in English and the ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
Able and willing to work with minimal supervision.
Must be a person of strong faith, integrity, and a committed Christian.
A certificate in Administrative law is an added advantage.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Participate in the development and implementation of the annual administration budget in line with the annual US’s work plan.
Be responsible for the day to day administrative work through supervision of lower administrative and support staff. These include Staff in the department of Estates, University Farm, Transport and all support staff in Scale 10.
Assist the University Secretary’s Office in being in charge of;
Minute Recorder to Council meetings and its Committees, Senior Management Team meetings, General Staff meetings and any other Adhoc meetings held by Council and Management.
Keeping an up-to-date record of minutes of such meetings.
Act as a Link to the University Secretary’s office with the Academic functions of the University by continuously monitoring the administrative needs of the academic staff.
Monitoring, supervising and appraising all administrative staff in the office of the University secretary.
With the assistance of the Assistant Transport Officer and liaising with the University Secretary, be in charge of all transport affairs and transport assets of the University. This will include monitoring the economic use of the vehicles and their consumables like fuel and ensuring prompt service of the University Vehicles.
Liaising with the Internal Audit and Finance Departments to regularly update the University inventory.
In liaison with University Secretary, be in charge of risk management Register.
In liaison with the US, be responsible for planning and supporting the ongoing development, implementation, monitoring and review of the institution's Strategic Plan.
