African Development Aid Association Finance Officer Jobs in EthiopiaJob DescriptionJob SummaryThe Finance Officer is responsible for managing all financial activities contributing to the achievements of ADAA’s overall Objectives.
She/he is directly responsible for implementation of all financial activities and the enhancement of support to staffs capacity throughout the process.
She/he is also responsible for maintaining accurate and complete records in accordance with International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) and ADAA’s accounting, Financial Policies and Procedures.
Responsibilities and Tasks
Design and use sound internal financial control system, to safeguard assets, records and documents of the organization;
Ensure the communication of financial policies and procedures within the organization, and with other stakeholders;
Supervise and check all financial activities including payments, transfers of funds, payrolls, controlling cash and other current accounts, bank reconciliation statements, liabilities for correctness and timely delivered;
Check and ascertain the accuracy and validity of invoices/documents submitted for payment;
record invoice and arrange payments;
Check that payment requests are made in accordance with agreement and from appropriate fund, grant period, in line with budget line items;
Ensure the timely settlement of ADAA obligations (taxes, provident fund, etc.);
Ensure that all financial transactions analysis codes and account codes are set using ADAA’s chart of Accounts;
Design and apply chart of accounts that accommodate specific needs of donors, and maintain subsidiary records for each project;
Conduct periodic financial analysis to identify and resolve issues, gaps or variances;
Facilitate preparation of all financial statements, invoices, monthly bonk reconciliation statement, timely reporting;
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualification and Experiences
BA Degree in Accounting from Recognized University;
five (5) years & above directly work experiences in computer based accounting system preferably Peachtree and knowledge of IPSAS are required.
Required Skills for the position
Basic computer skills (Ms –Word, Excel, Power point skills)
Good command of written and spoken English
Knowledge of Afaan Oromo is Must
NGO Experience is advantageous
