Job Description

  • Abeba Giday Business Group (Abeba Giday Trading House, Abeba Transport, Addis Spare Parts, and Bazen Agricultural and Industrial PLC…) are looking for the following vacancies.

    Main purpose of the job

  • Buy products that are essential for our company’s day-to-day operations and ensure optimal stock levels

    Main responsibilities

  • Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.

  • Research potential vendors, compare and evaluate offers from suppliers, negotiate contract terms of agreement and pricing.

  • Track orders and ensure timely delivery.

  • Review quality of purchased products and prepare reports on purchases, including cost analyses.

  • Participate in the development of specifications for services, equipment, products, supplies, or substitute materials.

  • Process supplies requisitions received; processes purchase orders, requisitions, and accompanying invoices for payment on stores inventory items.

  • Accepts deliveries and reviews orders received for accuracy and condition of merchandise.

  • Verifies purchase requisitions by comparing items requested to master list; clarifying unclear items; recommending alternatives.

  • Forwards available inventory items by verifying stock; scheduling delivery.

  • Prepares purchase orders by verifying specifications and price; obtaining recommendations from suppliers for substitute items; obtaining approval from requisitioning department.

  • Obtains purchased items by forwarding orders to suppliers; monitoring and expediting orders.

  • Verifies receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered.

  • Authorizes payment for purchases by forwarding receiving documentation.

  • Maintain updated records of purchased products, delivery information, and invoices.

  • Enter order details (e.g., vendors, quantities, prices) into internal databases and keeps the information accessible by sorting and filing documents.

  • Maintaining the purchasing policy and ensuring that all purchases adhere to it.

  • Monitor stock levels and place orders as needed.

  • Coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure proper storage.

  • Attend trade shows and exhibitions to stay up-to-date with industry and service trends.

  • Undertake such other duties and tasks as may lie within the scope of this post to ensure the effective delivery and development of the service.

    Job Requirements

    Knowledge, skills, and experience required

  • BSc in Logistics, Business Management, Business accounting or relevant field.

  • Proven work experience as a Purchasing Officer, purchasing agent, or similar role for at least five years.

  • Good knowledge of vendor sourcing practices (researching, evaluating, and liaising with vendors).

  • Excellent basic computer skills and hands-on experience with digital purchasing applications.

  • Understanding of supply chain procedures.

  • Solid analytical skills, with the ability to create financial reports and conduct cost analyses.

  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.

  • Good interpersonal and work ethics skills of the highest order.
