Principal Rwanda Development Board

The Rwanda Development Board – RDB is looking within the region for highly qualified, skilled, motivated and experienced person to fill the vacant position of Principal of Kitabi College of Conservation and Environmental Management - KCCEM .

The Principal is in charge of the development and management of the College.

He/She will report to the Deputy CEO, Conservation and Tourism, RDB, for all administrative matters, but in all technical matters, s/he will report to the Board of Trustees.

The Principal will be responsible for all development and academic programmes, including the coordination of technical assistance to the College.

S/He will be expected to develop, promote and facilitate smooth working relationship between the College, RDB and other Government Agencies and all partners and collaborating institutions.

The Principal will be responsible for the overall direction and management of the College, including the development and supervision projects, non-academic programs and /or joint programmes with partners


  • Masters degree or higher, in Environmental Education, Natural Sciences or related field with at least ten years field experience in NRM and five in technical training.

  • Emphasis will be given to a candidate with extensive field experience in NRM and in technical training, and therefore understands first hand the skill and technical needs for such jobs and be able to adequately prepare the trainees for such jobs.

  • Knowledge and experience in conducting technical training

  • Experience and knowledge in the planning, development, administration and management of academic programmes,

  • Skills in formulating policy, developing and implementing new strategies;

  • Strong leadership qualities and organizational and decision making skills;

  • Abilities to manage human resources, financial resources and learning infrastructure,

  • Strong organizational and planning skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

  • Ability to improve performance of team to achieve measurable improvements

  • Ability to foster a co-operative working environment

  • Highly developed inter-personal, negotiation and team building skills and networking

  • Result-orientated and demonstrates efficiency in a multi-tasking environment

    Duration of the contract:

  • Two years contract, renewable on the basis of performance and achievement of planned results.

    Terms and conditions of appointment:

  • The posts are on performance contract for a probation period of 6 months.

  • After that, the successful candidate shall be awarded a full time contract with in RDB terms and conditions of appointment
