Job Title: Finance Officer
Office: Department for Human Resources, Science & Technology
Duty Station: Addis Ababa
Under the supervision of Head of Science & Technology and ICT Division and reporting to the Directorate of Programming, Budgeting, Finance & Accounting, the Finance Officer is responsible for the financial and budget management of AU Research Grant Program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for all the budgets of the Research Grant Program: from the proposals to the financial reports in accordance with grant donor’s guidelines and in terms of support cost coverage
To monitor budget’s consumption and to report the financial situation to the Division of Science & Technology and ICT
To Assist in setting up the Research Grant Fund and the Financial roles for the Grant
To set up and control process of expenses and financial procedures
To prepare monthly follow up, annual financial report
In charge of the contracts follow up
To follow and update any administrative and juridical issues related to research consortium contracts
Assist the PMU in all aspects of juridical issues.
Assist the division and the PMU on mobilizing resources
With the African financial institutes / services and with financial departments of research institutions on economic, human resources and administrative aspects
With Grants donors at Continental, Regional, national and International level
With the Departments and Institutions coping with indicators to follow economic evolution and to develop a relevant data base Financial resources
To implement financial resources procedures
To guarantee that the financial framework is followed by the current rules and regulation of the AUC
Follow up and monitor the financial part of the research grants.
Qualifications, Experience and Skill:
Candidates must have at least a University Degree in Economics and Financial field. Possession of Masters Degree will be an added advantage
Candidates must have at least 5 years of relevant working experience in financial resources management and fund management.
Perfect working knowledge of MS Office and financial software
Team Spirit, diplomacy and confidential attitude
Experience in working with international organization, financial institution and/or international firms; with notable juridical knowledge
Knowing the rules and regulation of the AUC and their main partnerships i.e. EC, AFDB is an advantage
Proficiency in one of the African Union working languages is a requirement. Knowledge of one or more of the other AU working languages would be an added advantage.
Candidates must preferably be between 25 and 35 years old.
Tenure of Appointment:
The appointment shall be for an initial period of two (2) years, the first six (6) months of which shall be on probation. It shall be renewable subject to performance and availability of funds.

The salary attached to this position is an annual lump sum of US$ 64,459.57 (Sixty-Four thousand, Four hundred and Fifty- Nine United States Dollars and Cents Fifty-Seven) inclusive of all allowances.
