The post holder will report to the Regional Head of Advocacy & Institutional Relations.
The purpose of the post is to implement the Save the Children Africa Advocacy Strategy --making a contribution for positive change for children in Africa.
This will require significant and proven experience in advocacy and campaigning on African policy issues, excellent negotiation and persuasion skills, and ability to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
This role is a fully accompanied position.
The position was developed and approved by the nine Save the Children members working in Africa (Canada, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Spain, Swaziland, Sweden, UK and US) as a part of the strategy to establish how Save the Children UK will work collectively to advocate for specific issues impacting children in Africa by engaging pan-African bodies and national governments in addressing policy and resources.
The advocacy work and strategy focuses on lobbying the African Union, as well as ensuring the flow of information within and between country offices in Africa, to Save the Children UK various home offices, to African civil society partners and to the Alliance advocacy offices in Geneva, Brussels and New York.
