What is a Zip Code?

by Chantal
(Bujumbura, Burundi)

I applied for a scholarship, at the last step, they asked me my zip code, so I want to know what is a zip code for someone.

A Zip Code is a group of five or nine numbers that are added to a postal address to assist the sorting of mail.

It is mostly used in USA. Other countries have postal code, post code and variations of these.
