How safe/unsafe would it relatively be for a young female student to be travelling to Africa (Kenya specifically) solo?

Also, overall, expenses for a trip such as this would total to be really expensive. Would there be any way to fund raise for the money?

It is very safe to travel to Kenya. We have many young female students coming for our volunteer programs.
