Save the Children NGO Child Protection Technical Specialist and Safe Programming Focal point Jobs in Kenya


Responsibilities

  • Ensures that all child protection programming is of excellent technical quality, attracts significant donor funding and contributes to Save the Children's strategic objectives, national/global learning and advocacy.

    Qualifications

  • A child protection professional with a Masters Degree in social sciences, law, social work or relevant field.
  • Significant professional experience; at least five years, of progressive experience working in child protection for international NGOs, government, or UN, with experience working at the national level preferred.
  • Experienced in systems building work and emergency programming (CPiE)
  • Good understanding of the child protection sector within the Kenyan context, particularly issues related to neglect, abuse and children without appropriate care.
  • Clear understanding of the intersection of child protection with other thematic areas and integrated programming, particularly in emergencies.
  • Experience with child protection programming in humanitarian settings preferred.
  • Experience in program design and writing donor funding proposals.
  • Strong report writing skills and ability to compile narrative sections for proposals and donor reports.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and negotiate clearly and effectively at all levels, taking into account cultural and language difficulties.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching.
  • Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Strong results orientation, with the ability to challenge existing mindsets.
  • Experience solving complex issues through analysis, definition of a clear way forward and ensuring buy in.
  • Ability to present complex information in a succinct and compelling manner.
  • Ability and willingness to dramatically change work practices and hours, and work with incoming surge teams, in the event of emergencies.
  • Fluency in English, both verbal and written, required. Swahili preferred.
  • Commitment to Save the Children values, including willingness to abide by and enforce the Child Safeguarding policy.

    Save the Children NGO Regional Awards (Grants) Management Officer Jobs in Kenya

    Responsibilities

  • Support the Head of Award Management in the planning, securing and managing of both development and humanitarian grants across East and Southern Africa
  • Plays a lead role in award information management and shares and coordinates information across departments.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the SCI programme adheres to all its award management obligations internally within Save the Children and externally with donors.
  • Provide wider systems support as needed, including support to project management, monitoring and evaluation, and partnership management as they relate to SCI systems.
  • Provide remote support to the award managers in the region in planning securing and managing awards with dedicated support on high risk awards, providing analysis,
    compliance, capacity building and monitoring of all phases of awards.

    Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in International Development, Social Sciences, Law, Business Administration or Finance or a relevant field
  • 3 years' experience in donor funded projects with International NGO's particularly those addressing human/children's rights and those applying partnership approaches.
  • Significant experience (minimum 3 years) of developing proposals (narrative and financial), negotiating agreements and managing compliance of major institutional donors in the development sector (e.g. USAID, EC, ECHO, UNICEF, DFAT, etc.) including in-depth knowledge of grant documents & compliance issues.
  • Demonstrable experience in grant/contract management and financial management
    Computer literacy and excellent documentation skills are a must.
  • Ability to establish and maintain conducive collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a team.
  • Availability and willingness to work extra hours during times of humanitarian responses.
  • Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching.

    Save the Children NGO Awards Coordinator Jobs in Kenya

    Responsibilities

  • Information management and shares and coordinates information across departments.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the SCI programme adheres to all its award management obligations internally within Save the Children and externally with donors.
  • Responsible for assigned awards, and will ensure compliance with financial and administrative requirements, donor specific requirements and to make recommendations for improvements.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Social studies, Economics, Management, International Affairs or related field relevant to the position requirements
  • 5 years experience in managing large awards facilities
  • Minimum 3 years working in international development
  • English Language Fluency
  • Excellent understanding of the awards management cycle, logical frameworks, and M&E concepts.
  • Knowledge of awards and contracts regulations and reporting requirements of major donors such as EU, DFID, ECHO, UN agencies, DANIDA.
  • Experience of managing awards, cooperative agreements and contracts for major donors.
  • Practice knowledge of financial awards accounting and management.
  • Experience of analysing and commenting on variances between actual and budgeted expenditure and relating this to activity reporting
